Making Cakes

Is this some sort of new trend??

Over the last year or so there seems to be cake in the kitchen here every other day and there are regular competitions. It seems a lot of folk here seem to get a buzz out of making cakes in their own time and then bringing them into work for ignorant cunts like me to scoff, without so much as a thank you.

Is it just here that this is happening or is it something that's happening outside of North Manchester too?

Oh, and it's not just birds doing this either. The blokes are at it too. Weird.

Men and baking is just not fucking right any man who bakes is a fucking bender   Men should either be at the match, supping or fingering and flat dicks at home baking where they belong

There's people in the world who have never had carnation milk.

Poor bastards

fucking weirdos the lot of um

There's a time and a place for carnation milk, you can't have it on any old shite

Ace I will venture in.

There's a couple of Polish (well, Polish and Lithuanian/Latvian) shops at the bottom of Daubhill, either side of the road. I'd try them if Morrisons haven't got any. The Polish call them 'Borówka' apparently.

Carnation on tinned fruit cocktail is wrong, it's alreet on apple pie.

Don't deny your roots I say, when I was a kid, things like; Carnation milk, Warbies, Angel Delight, Dream Topping, Bird's Custard and other stuff was considered a delicacy. OK. we've moved on a bit, but to dismiss stuff as shite - nah! :)

Lyons Jamaican Ginger Cake is another one - I'd still eat that, even if it's probably considered pleb food these days.

Cake? Just Say No!

Doesn't carnation taste like sterilised milk?

I completely agree. I've just unsubscribed from a few on my fb that are still "keep calming".

no shes fingering herself

We (me & my sisters) used to make cakes on a Sunday afternoon with my dad (he was a baker so a bit of a busman's day off for him). Still do make them, every so often, taking leftovers into work. Don't do cupcakes though as I'm not keen on icing, plus it doubles the cost of the cakes.

Cupcakes are aright, but you can't beat a butterfly cake. I used to make chocolate ones with peppermint cream as a kid.

In fact I might make some next weekend if I can be arsed.

Now that might explain the cuntish Starbucksesque markup that am seeing

Doesn't justify buying them though, twats

In six months I long to see a hoade of shut down, dilapidated cupcake shops round my way, with tatty burnt out keep calm bill posters plastered over their shut down windows

Men baking cakes is proper gayness. Unless its a space cake, with razor blades, glass n nails in it.

I hope you put them in the kitchen with an accompanying post-it note that had some witty and self deprecating comment, followed by a smiley face :)

It doesn't matter really, they're not 'real' businesses are they? I mean, their husbands are probably the ones 'bringing home the bacon'. In fact this isn't me just spouting chauvinistic rubbish, none other than the FT reported today that 'Cupcakes and Party Organising' is second only to 'Costume Jewellery Import, Franchising and Sales' in a newly published 'Top 10' list of 'pretend businesses'.

So they should just sit on their arses and watch loose women?

If they make a few bob fair fucks to them

I'd imagine they'd turn their nose up if you went in later in the day and asked them if they had any reductions
