Traf Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Reet, we've got some yoghurt knitters, some council types and some workshy educationalists on here, so this is the question: If it's free to get into Bolton Aquarium, why does my daughter's school want £15 from me for her to go? Quote
Sweep Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 If it's free to get into Bolton Aquarium, why does my daughter's school want £15 from me for her to go? They're sending her in a taxi on her own? Quote
Smiffs Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 So the teachers can buy vodka, get wankered on the coach, and finger the PE teacher Quote
Traf Posted June 19, 2013 Author Posted June 19, 2013 To fill in a risk assessment. Apparently there's one available if we want a copy! Quote

Traf Posted June 19, 2013 Author Posted June 19, 2013 Can you drink and smoke on the coach? I hope not, she's 8. Quote

finbwfc Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Coach hire? It can only be for coach hire but seems really expensive (presuming it's a local school) Pupils where I work pay £10 to cover admission (a few quid) and coach hire for a trip to Malton in North Yorkshire. And yes there will be a risk assessment Quote
Sweep Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Are they getting their lunch bought for them as well? Quote
MrG Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 It can only be for coach hire but seems really expensive (presuming it's a local school) Pupils where I work pay £10 to cover admission (a few quid) and coach hire for a trip to Malton in North Yorkshire. And yes there will be a risk assessment It will be for the coach because when you hire one you are really booking for the 'time' as the coach may not be able undertake any other jobs while they are on the trip. Some coach companies arrange it so that they can drop the children and do a few pick ups for other jobs and then come back. So really, you will be paying for the coach driver to sit and read the mirror while they are on the trip. A few years ago I use to organise coaches from Atherton to away games and the owner of the coach company told me this as I had to explain to everyone why the difference in price between Everton away and Spurs away wasn't a million miles apart! Traf Posted June 19, 2013 Author Posted June 19, 2013 Are they getting their lunch bought for them as well? No, they're taking their own packed lunches. Coach hire of over £600 on a school day, when the coaches are sat around doing nothing is an absolute piss take. From the school to the aquarium and back is about a 35 mile round trip. Quote
