Thanks for the education, at the time I did consider the Paddock to be full of old farts, so proud to say I was a lever end ding.

Spurs (and others but particularly Spurs) found out what the 'old farts' were capable of one night when they tried to steam up the ramps. Carnage.

My memories of Chelsea from the 70's are only ones of getting pasted though they were post 1975. One particular unpleasant surprise was when we arrived at Brentford in 1976 for a FA cup tie on a freezing January day. We were herded into a narrow passage behind the turnstiles where we got ambushed by a fair size Chelsea mob. Took a good kicking that day.

I was at those League Cup & FA cup games, and had no problems. But I was living in London at the time. Shit fan obviously - I just went for the matches.

The match I remember best was 3-0 up with 17 minutes to go and losing 3-4.

Hiding?? ::lol::

I have one abiding memory of a St Johns Ambulance man on the halfway line getting kicked up the arse by a passing Chelsea fan. St. John uproots the halfway flag pole, clouts the Chelsea fan round the head with it then tends to his wound. Making his own business. Brilliant! :D

'.

Love that story my old dad told me about it. He said the St. John's ambulance man just lost it.

Think it was the same game Chelsea fans were trying to rock a metal fence over, whilst a copper the other side walked up and down twatting their hands in turn with his truncheon.

There's a cracking bit in Colin wards steaming in about Chelsea at Burnden...

Fantastic book as a whole if its still obtainable.

Can you stick that bit on here, save me buying it?

This photo came up on a Facebook group a few days ago entitled "Chelsea at Bolton". Home end this though surely?

It's the Bunden Paddock, & I'm guessing it's the game when Chelsea fans were in the Burnden Stand......a lot of people seem to be looking up into the seats.

Your Dad is spot on. The bloke was nearly foaming at the mouth, twatted him with the flagpole and then reverted to Mr. Calm and treated the wound he'd just inflicted. One of my favourite football funnies. Can you imagine it now? The bloke would be on a charge.

Can you stick that bit on here, save me buying it?

I'll scan it later

Haha...hoolifan was a belter as well mate,by Martin knight, who also did naughty 90's which was pretty much my bible as a yoof! ????

The steaming in book is the original hoolie book for those that havnt read it.

Written by Colin ward,it's just his accounts of following arsenal and England throughout the 80's,there's a big bit dedicated to Chelsea and Steve hickmott the Chelsea gaffer!

The bit about then turning up at Burnden when they were meant to be banned is brilliant, ill try and get a couple of pages scanned when I'm back home later and can find the actual book!

Edit...Satan will do it as he's totally ace.

Funny they don't mention the league cup game anywhere

Aye I thought there was a bigger bit about it than that?

Mind you it's 13 years since I read it.

Or am I thinking of hoolifan?

Fuck knows.

There's a good bit about us against stoke in 91ish in the naughty 40 book I know that!

And the guy who writes the bbc book slags us off.

I'll dig hoolifan out of the Attic and have a read...scally is up there somewhere as well

I read Scum Airways, quite enjoyed it, just cant believe all the events are over 10 years ago now.

I don't know if things will have changed too much with ticket touts but as someone who is planning to go to France for Euro 2016, the accounts of their dealings at France 98 were interesting!

Northern Monkeys is worth a read too, more about sub cultures and music up north from the Northern Soul scene to raves etc. Some shambolic grammar and spelling in it but it's good

Don't Look Back In Anger was alright....really don't like us in that book :)

"The northern diocese were always a well organised firm; Yorkminster was a piece of piss and we did them over good and proper a few times.  But when the draw for the general synod diocese conference landed us in Bolton we knew we needed to be organised. By way of cover we blagged on to three coaches, including one from the Womens Institute, although the stupid bitches almost blew our cover when one of them got arrested for propositioning at Knutsford Services. By the time we got up there we were all out of communion wine, but I kept the lads together.  We had two gravediggers with previous for gbh, an organist who'd done two years for wounding with intent, and half the choir had just come out of borstal. Add to that an archdeacon who'd run guns to Angola and  a churchwarden who was an ex wrestler - all together it was a right tidy firm.

We stopped off in Westhoughton and couldn't resist testing our mettle against the St Bartholomew mob.  Well up for it we burst in only to find the fucker as empty as a Jock collection box. Naturally we nicked the silverware, half the roof and and as a parting gift I shat in the font and then rang through to claim a result. Right then all hell broke loose as their mob legged it over from Casa Nostra and put the boot in big time. Last thing I remember is scambling back into the Sunshine Coach as one of the gravediggers had his teeth splattered half way to Wingates.

Still, I got my revenge a few years later when I burnt the cunt down...."

Saw a book in Waterstones recently called "The Story Of A Little Red Devil" (seriously) and went to the photos bit in the middle, one of which proudly shows all them numpties dressed in black preparing to go to Rooney's house to make him stay at Old Trafford!

We should dress up in pink and get round Mears and Knight's.
