Packing In Smoking

Had a e-cig, shite and gave it away. I've worked out I can smoke 20 a day. Lambert & Butler are £7.45p a packet = £2,652.20p a year. That's it, I'm packing in for good, I've got twelve left and after the last one that's it. Anybody else fancy packing in and no telling lies, see who's got the most willpower?

my mum was like that to my dad

Get a tin and everytime you would have bought a packet, stick the money in there it will shock you how much and how quick it builds up.

If you can not think of anything better than standing outside a pub in the smoking area that you can do with the money then try something else.

I thought of doing this when I stopped. thing is, while you always found a fiver (£6 or £7 now) you can't find that same money to hide away in a savings tin.

I've downloaded the NHS app and I've currently saved £22.61p. I'll just leave it in the bank and let the app do the sums. I'm carbon monoxide free, nicotine free and breathing better according to it. :)

  • 3 weeks later...

Downloaded one of them apps and aye its interesting.

I've now expelled 44% of the nicotine in my body and saved £4.86, cutting out 13.24 cigs.

However I'm only 0.02% normal risk of getting lung cancer compared to a non smoker. I think I need to work on that one.

There is no mention of how many wanks I could have had instead of cigs.

20 days without one = £149 saving, I've noticed I'm breathing and sleeping better, my teeth are a few shades whiter too. That NHS App is ace, I didn't have a clue there was carbon monoxide in cigs till I read that :)

110 days without = £819.50 better off, breathing improved beyond belief, wake up with a morning missile every day. Not cheated at all but put a few pounds on :)

Great news mate. Well done. Never go back.

Good man BB.

I'm still on the e-cig, but have now not had a proper smook for well over a month.  Tried one a few weeks ago after a skinful and it tasted disgusting. I put it out after two drags. There is simply no appeal anymore of having a real one - even after a few beers.

Of course, I know I need to give up this e-cig at some stage, but in terms of health and money I know I'm in a better place with this rather than proper cigarettes.

Well played Daz, the main hurdle is gone :)

Oops, I'm a wanker

I'm lucky enough never to have started but it must be tough to give up after a fair while.

A genuine question (though it would obviously never happen)- if cigs were made cock-shaped would it help blokes (most) to give up?

Nah, I'd be back on them and deep throating 40 a day.
