Packing In Smoking

Had a e-cig, shite and gave it away. I've worked out I can smoke 20 a day. Lambert & Butler are £7.45p a packet = £2,652.20p a year. That's it, I'm packing in for good, I've got twelve left and after the last one that's it. Anybody else fancy packing in and no telling lies, see who's got the most willpower?

Dids, what about all the lard arses that your mum serves £1 sausage barms to?  They're a drain on the NHS too.

Well you'll only come to regret it if you have them a lot.

It's the numerous packets a day kind that I just don't get, I know someone who died, close to me, who didn't even try and quit and yet you could see the effect in both his health and his wallet. Just try.

Didds, surely if somebody enjoys smoking then it's not a waste of money. They might think forking out £30 for the latest "Call of Duty" and spending time on your own in your room playing it is more of a waste of cash and time.

Each to there own really

Last time I checked cigarettes in Poland were about a third of the price if £7.45 is the going rate...

Ryanair are always having 'sales' with £20/£30 each way flights - bob over to Warsaw or Gdansk, have a mooch around, bit of a drink, take in the sights and maybe a bit of culture. Come back with 800 cigarettes (or more if you're willing to take the risk - there's technically no limit if they're for your own consumption.)

By my reckoning, you'd probably still save money than buying over here.

£7.45 a pack, 'kin 'ell - I reckon' if there's couples who both smoke it's their biggest single weekly expenditure...

You'll find out tonight.

Gaming doesn't kill you, unless you're mental and think you should be like the Protagonist on GTA for example , I guess people who smoke a lot are like people who drink a lot, I do neither, so it's easy for me to say, I think money and the effect to ones health outweighs the gain/pleasure from the addiction, I understand how hard it must be to quit, but I think they should try and not just a small try, like a few hours/day or two.

Having a stack of empty cans ready for the bin/recycle and an ashtray full ends is so off putting. I'm glad I never got into smoking and it could have been so easy to do at school, when you saw all the chavs and 'being part of the crowders' doing it.

The original, 'tell it like it is' blurb on packets of Walls Sausages was;

"With everything but the Oink!"

complete with a picture of a pig giving a cheeky wink.

It's what's left over after they've put the eyes and arseholes into the donners.

it probably is, have you ever seen one of them machines that crushes up bones, skin, aresholes and eyelids and then spits out "reformed meat" - truly grim

Nom nom

Don't think I've eaten a donner since I read the first post referring to eys and arseholes on here.

did it last month to Gdansk

£40 return flight

£2.50 for a pack of cigs

limit was 3200 for own use, 160 packs

over there - that's £400

over here, at £8 a pack, it's £1280

so you save £880, and get a couple of days on the piss at £1.50 a pint and less

Blimey, I might take up smoking if I can save that much

My mum was a teacher at your school Dids, so it wasn't just the chavs who liked a crafty fag.

I think the 'buy in Poland' route would lead to quitting anyway, who'd go back to paying £7.50 to £8 a pack, after 160 days of a £2.50 a day habit?

But you wouldn't quit, you'd just go back to Poland.

True, but it'd introduce a twice yearly trip that would rapidly become a chore...It'd probably make one more inclined to give up. I wouldn't be able to go back to paying three times the price, and I'd hazard a guess the jaunts to Poland would soon lose their novelty value.

do we think thats what JAZZA has done and the bird is a mith

do we think thats what JAZZA has done and the bird is a mith

I am no mith. I am enjoying sexy time in scotchland with sexy James. we only bring back 200 cigaretts for to use after we have love making time

I think it's only the nicotine holding our lad together.

You can only stop if you really want to not because you think you should.

I've done over 7 years now, I quit using Champix - before the 'Champix makes you kill yourself' episode, it is bloody hard however you do it but well worth it in health and finance

About 9 years ago i enrolled in a quit smoking group run by the NHS id smoked for about 45 years nonstop was on 40+ a day.I thought id never quit but the lady running the course was brilliant no patronising or lecturing she just stuck to facts, like what was in cigs,i nearly spewed up when i heard what was in em, i picked a day to finish as they said, got my free patches from doctor and quit,i had patches of various strengths for 3 months 24 hours a day and it worked ive not had a cig since and feel a hell of a lot healthier.

So if your thinking of quitting try hard it is a good thing to do.

Been pissed up twice since my last cig, 68 hrs without one. Struggled a bit last night must admit but fuck em, it's all about getting rid of the wheeze and saving the pennies. I really hope I don't let myself down whilst being leathered :). Anyone else packed in and still doing well?
