The Bury

reduced to derbies against Morecambe these days. Lost against them at Gigg Lane and now just one point above the trapdoor to the Conference.

Would you like to see them drop out of the 92 or not?

  • Yup. Fuck them

Long may they plummet. My hatred for them goes back a long way.

Lost 2-1 away in our World Cup winning year. My old man took me to the earliest away match I can remember attending. Had a striking effect on me because a year later I took my 6 year old brother to QPR - just me and him. Can you imagine that these days (we lost that one 1-0, seem to recall QPR had a great team around that time including the likes of Lazarus and, possibly, Marsh?).

Anyway, back to that night in Bury. I recall heading back to the car all despondent and a bunch of lads running up to us spitting bile about Bolton and the old man floored one and let the others know 'he'd floor the f**king lot of them if they didn't fook off right now'. Exciting for me as i had no concept of trouble at football up to that point and the only swear words I had ever heard me Dad use were 'bloody' and 'bugger'.

Hated the Shakers ever since and took great delight in regularly going to Gigg Lane with a Bolton mob and ruling the roost when the Wanderers were playing at the other end of the country. Particular fond memories of a game they won 5-3 against Stockport who had a striker named Jim Fryatt who was scoring for fun at the time. Carnage in the Cemetery End when Bolton charged form one side and Stockport simultaneously from the other side.

Rightly or wrongly, I always associate them with the DMB's what with reserve games played at Gigg Lane, FCUM and the amount of Reds I encountered in Bury whilst serving a 5 year apprenticeship there. Let's hope they fold.

GMR post-match phone in earlier was brilliant. Pretty sure a few of them were calling from a high ledge

Yip, and take the black puddings with em

Fuck em.

Anyone that lives in bury stinks of cat piss.

Oi!

The worst thing is my council tax goes to keeping them afloat.

They aren't coming shaking their buckets again, fuck them.

they had a fucking nerve doing it last time. Still, some silly fuckers put in

As you say, fuck em

My dislike of them stems from the crowing after their regular heavy wins at Burnden in the 1980s when we were at our lowest ebb. We had 1-4, 2-3, 2-4 and 1-3 against them. Still to this day one of the best moments at the Reebok was the 4-0 win against them in 1998 when Arnie and Johansen tore them apart. My only regret that day is that there were still 20 mins or more on the clock when we went four up and we could have had six or seven.

The one line Bury fans always trot out is "you've not beaten us at Gigg Lane since the 1920s". They had to change that to say we've not beaten them there in the league since then. That was after we beat them there 0-2 in the League Cup under Rioch.

The night branny saved 19 penalties in a row?

Didn't Luther blisset score for them at burnden in the first leg?

Remember their hideous turquoise birthdays kit

I remember giving Blissett some shit for being at Bury.

The crazy cunt did some fucking Zulu dance with a (pretend) spear.

I really don't mind them.

I just hope that we never have to play them again (in the league)

Lets not get giddy.

I think I could count the number of Bury fans I have met on one hand.

I think i must be the only Bolton fan in history to have received a crack from a Bury prick(mid 80's at their place.)

But,by jove old chap, the fucker didn't half get it repaid with plenty of extras as well

A couple more would have got a crack if the netting wasn't there in the 4-0.

quite a few did afterwards in the Pack Horse in Bolton.  3 of us went in and were attacked by 30 of them, the cavalry were outside planned to perfection and ''rescued'' us.   That would have been '98 IIRC,met their main ''lads''  haha,in Stockholm at the England game and kept in touch so to speak.

Their phones were silent after the Pack Horse episode :innocent:

I'd love to be able to find a DVD of that 4-0 win over Bury in 98 but it is nowhere to be found.

they did that on the lancs cup early 80's and still got legged all over that park.  it was the Sunnybank lot in those days IRC,a certain AG rallying the troops. Not since him since he scattered, would recognise the soles of his adidas Hamburg though

my hatred for bury is up there with the munichs. hope blackwells given to the end of the season as he's doing a cracking job.

I have no feeling towards them at all, not played them much in my time watching the whites and never met a bury fan.

I'd love to draw them in the cup though to see us fill their town.

Just sacked Blackwell

Fuck 'em.  That town doesn't deserve a football team.

Just sacked Blackwell
