  • He came in got some fucking good players on board willing to fight for the cause and led us off the bottom and to safety.   I really still dont see what people hate so much.   Did the job he was b

We finished 13th in Gary Megsons only full season in charge.

Oh and we got to the last 16 of a European cup competition the season before.

Whatever you think of him that's not a bad return.

A very black and white view that mate. Likewise him being shit because he was a twat is it could be argued.

that first season he did well to keep us up. (was allowed to reinvest in the team)

I think most agree he has a decent eye for a player.

But he was taking us down and I think people only look back favourably now as a comparison to OC in terms of keeping us up and Coyle didn't.

I have never been so relieved when someone got fired a terrible tactician who only had one sub either Muamba for Gardner or the reverse. He had no idea how to hold onto a lead for more than 5 minutes.

He was a turd of a man who made going to watch Wanderers feel like an unpleasant chore and luckily I haven't felt the same since.

stop chucking out shite like we were already relegated and i'll let it go

and look at the team megson inherited from lee

At the time it was a mortgage lumper

Our subsequent demise appears to have given it a different feel though?

We were absolutely awful

why was it

what makes you think we couldn't have achieved a point a game for the rest of the season

i remember us playing city in that run of 4 games and it was a cracking display

Beating WBA 2-0 going all defensive when we were pissing all over them and drawing 2-2 sent us down and i will never forgive the cunt for that

Ahh but a cracking display and we couldn't defend and didnt even win the game

Same time: Blackburn at home, Villa away?? Dreadful!

And I will always shudder at that week of Lisbon / Wigan...

That was the game where I thought he's lost the dressing room. Cahills celebration and the fact the game plan went out of the window. Agree we played well that day!

I'm not defending him as a person

but as I said

The worst position we were in under megson was 2007/2008 season and we stayed up

From 9th Feb - 5th March we lost 8 games and drew 1.

1 point from 27, with the final game losing 4-0 to Villa.

5 games to go the league table was like this

Newcastle 38

Sunderland 36

Middlesbrough 35

Wigan 34

Reading 32

Birmingham 30

Bolton 26

Fulham 24

Derby 11

Us and Fulham stayed up and Reading and Birmingham went down.

Megson was a cunt but a better manager than Coyle.

Coyle was a very nice fella but a shocking manager.

we are not talking about lisbon and wigan

you said we were nailed on to go down

its obviously bollocks

how the fcuk is that megsons fault?

Megson acted under orders away at Lisbon.

I thought everyone knew this?

Never said anything about Megson, everyone is debating OC and GM i was pointing out that i will never forgive Coyle for that against WBA so get off your soap box

My line above that was regarding that season

The Wigan thing was still under his stewardship

Need to leave the lobby to pop off to a meeting now. You keep on that we'd have stayed up. I'll still assert we'd have gone down

You've ignored all my other points about the team, players, supporters not being together for the scrap. That's why Allardyce was so good in a scrap, it was us v everyone else. Under your ginger king it was him and you v everyone else

He's gone and is now leading Munch or Barca to glory though isn't he

thats fine then

and yes, it was pathetic, but hardly a shock bearing in mind his other 'strange' decisions

i'm not interested in your other points (if it makes you happy, i'll concede them all just to make progress) but they carry no weight if you can't see that we were not fcuking doomed

theres no evidence to support your case

its like arguing with diddledum

I'm so grateful

Nothing was a shock to me in the end

i think it was swansea away that finished him with me

anything after that was so predictable i lost the will to get pissed off

i'd arrive, see the team and feel RUINED

and if the bingo machine did turn up some decent numbers, he's soon right it and get muamba off :)

both were ultimately sh1te

megson got sacked before he had the chance to take us down, coyle was given the chance

both had highs, and coyle's high was far better/enjoyable than megson's (as in, a period of games/form - Megson did though give us Munich) - when we were good under him we really good and were on the verge of our best season ever before stoke

megson was as predictable as coyle and in the end, there's no real point in arguing which one was "better" than the other, but I enjoyed Coyle's tenure more than Megson's - also if it wasn't for him, we wouldn't be enjoying the championship, don't forget he gave us that much

thats fine then

We were in the relegation zone after Xmas, so take that static point alone?

Circumstantial evidence maybe but it's more than you've got: "the last 4 games were unbeaten" or whatever

We'll never know thank fuck, but I'm convinced

You're offering nothing at all and saying I'm talking like Didles

Aye alreet

Let it go man, the ginger prick is our distant past. Has he got pics of you sucking off Undies or summat? Or do you just love folk as dour as you are?

Going to Spotland tonight, has he been appointed yet?

was wigan at home for me, he looked like he was learning v everton/liverpool/arsenal

then he churned out the "well it worked at wigan away" excuse as to why he went 4-4-2 and brought KD back, that were that for me

swansea was a bumming but not helped by gardner getting sent off at 0-0

31 points would have kept us up

there is absolutely balls all to suggest we wouldn't have got 13 points from the last 20 games - aye, 13 points (until i looked that up i didn't realise just how easily we would've stayed up under megson)

so, if you're convinced, i'll just keep on questioning your sanity

Tallest dwarf.

They were both shit and are both cunts, the rest is irrelevant.

Absolutely convinced

I've explained why a million times

I think a major problem with both came down to their choice of backroom staff. Coyle's was all about jobs for the boys.
