We should have given Alonso a new contract instead of paying for Spearing.We didnt need another midfield terrier after signing Medo.With limited resources Freedman needed to get the big decisions right in the transfer market in the summer, he didn't and the league position shows it.

It's funny that two games against the same opposition can divide so many. Craven Cottage in the cup I really started to think he could be class with a bit of coincidence. He had bad games since but I do think he'll go on to forge a career at higher level than will concern us for a few years to come

After we as a group of fans made it crystal clear we were desperate for Spearing to sign up

Signing Spearing was another pressure campaign against the club, we had a negative summer with the Quick Quid saga etc and the club had lost the confidence of the facebook brigade. I personally think we would have done better to invest the Spearing money elsewhere but at the same point I wasn't grumbling about getting Spearing back.

 

Alonso on the other hand was a goner months before he did, he couldn't defend but was a good footballer - would I have him back? In a heartbeat - we have lost something on the wings this year with Ricketts and Alonso gone, they were good attacking full backs (yes I know Baptiste has scored 4).

I don't see how, he was absolute cack for the majority of the time he was with us, he played well towards the back end of last season, but he had already made his mind up he was going to go to Fiorentina.
