Now i know i am an old git but went out last night to at gig in the railway at Bradshaw.It was ok and finished at midnight,so a taxi took four of us into town,the first two places we went in had no draught beer on,just plenty of fancy taps with glasses over them.Finally got a pint in Barristers but then round to Man and scythe and they were shutting up shop FFS at 1 am on a friday.Finished with a couple of sad pints  in the Brass cat.

Now you lot on here like a drink and a laugh ,where should i have been?

I was in Atlantis when someone drove a car into it and started shooting folk.

Ironically the Atlantis closed down not long after I started clubbing there. The same thing happened with the Temple nightclub, mmmmmm? Ste Oil had the Brass Cat before it changed hands, he also manages Downtown (formerly Tiggi's). Three Crowns is a decent pint but doesn't serve til that late, about 12 roughly on a weekend.

I couldn't tell you now which is which or even the year.

 

Last time I was out in Bolton I ended up in this little club called juice or summet...all Wigan pier type stuff going on.

 

we should have been going there en masse after the 2002 sportsman's dinner but the filth scuppered our plans. we ended up in ritzys instead. pretty sure we went to atlantis though after west ham away that season

I don't, where was that?  Was it open early doors when you could get in with a power pass?   We used ours,  not because we were scutters but because they played Luther from 10 till 11.

Probably closed around 1988 such that Pink Panther became the pre-club grub gaff before that sadly became no more. Needed some stomach lining after the pernod and black doubles in Bergeracs and Central Park spin the wheel offers.

It was usually one of my mates who's soft as shite but he subscribed to the Bobby Charlton school of copping off in that if he approached 20 birds, he'd bank on pulling one (... a la Charlton's shoot on goal policy).

 

Trouble was that if he didn't get smacked off the lady, her bloke would wade in and we'd have to rescue him.

Bolton was a decent night out when I first started going out, Cromptons Mule, Yates, Crown and Flicknife Hawthorns, Temple, Atlantis, Juice came along, There was a pre Temple bar on a Bank Street that had a cage a lass used to dance in, name escapes me. Ritzy and 5th Avenue, I never went in Chester Moonshines at night I Managed a couple on a sat afternoon once with dodgy ID, Then there was Alma for the rockers, A place I'm suprised didn't do well was Life. Then Tandy closed and The bar opened that was the start of the end!

 

I do miss the days of The Tavern and Three Pigeons as they were Sundays were great as a teenager there!

As for the Tavern & Pigeons, fuck knows why 2 out of town food pubs opposite one another were heaving every Sunday. It was a strange phenomemon. A bloody good one though
