Night Out In Bolton

Now i know i am an old git but went out last night to at gig in the railway at Bradshaw. It was ok and finished at midnight,so a taxi took four of us into town, the first two places we went in had no draught beer on,just plenty of fancy taps with glasses over them. Finally got a pint in Barristers but then round to Man and scythe and they were shutting up shop FFS at 1 am on a friday.Finished with a couple of sad pints  in the Brass cat.

Now you lot on here like a drink and a laugh ,where should i have been?

Bar Peru? Bolton was ace for years, mainly Bar Juice era. It was terrible the last time I went, about 2 years ago. I am being dragged out in Bolton tomorrow night though (my friends choice) so we will see

Aye, it was decent when it first opened,

Bolton was a decent night out when I first started going out, Cromptons Mule, Yates, Crown and Flicknife Hawthorns, Temple, Atlantis, Juice came along, There was a pre Temple bar on a Bank Street that had a cage a lass used to dance in, name escapes me. Ritzy and 5th Avenue, I never went in Chester Moonshines at night I Managed a couple on a sat afternoon once with dodgy ID, Then there was Alma for the rockers, A place I'm suprised didn't do well was Life. Then Tandy closed and The bar opened that was the start of the end!

I do miss the days of The Tavern and Three Pigeons as they were Sundays were great as a teenager there!

Think Bat Peru is reet...

coyote ugly, Was that after the Temple burned down?

You have been warned a lot of it is very scummy now,how many were in Dirty Nellies on the last night of Burnden. A proper pub back then ,total dump now!

Brilliant! I know the guy who owns it

A pal of mine is running it now with a bird called Pippa, they had the Beaumont Arms before it. He's keen and should get it going a bit :)

you seem to have an issue with roid heads

are they were worse than coked up fcukers who want to fight with all and sundry?

i've no time for either, before you ask

The roid heads are normally coked up too but think with their size they can be boisturous

Well Bolton looked pretty wank on that video above.

Think people's tastes are changing not the night out

The big knockers on 17 minutes will never go out of fashion.

Circa 1990 when ST had hair i believe

Now now, at least I didn't have to do 50 laps and get multiple knock backs

Bros???? Fuck off it was Jason Donavan.........

More light on the dance floor.....

We used to go in Life, quite liked it.

As for the Tavern & Pigeons, fuck knows why 2 out of town food pubs opposite one another were heaving every Sunday. It was a strange phenomemon. A bloody good one though  :D

I used to go in there for a pint of an afternoon, quiet and always had a pretty girl behind the bar, no daytime pisscans to meither one either (or a better class of daytime pisscan - like me :)) it was when 'chromed out' bars were usually restricted to Manchester or that London etc...

First (non-italian) bar I'd seen sambucca negra being available - a sign of being quite chic at the time, not a portent of doom and the end of western civilisation and drinking culture as we know it. :(

That Bar Babylon was also a good one (for about ten minutes) until all the shady fuckers adopted it as their bar of choice, they even had a DJ on almost every night for a while...Then it went tits up as normal folk got scared away.

It really seemed like Bolton was emerging from the shadow of Manchester; pubs, bar and club wise, around 1996-2000 ish.

Right back to the fucking dark ages now...

We had a laugh last weekend in the old biddy pubs.

I don't mind old bloke pubs...

It's these goldfish bowl shot bar shitholes that are the problem.

Anyone remember the Jungle Wet T Shirt comps on Thursday neets

As somebody pointed out earlier in the thread, when 'The Bar' opened, well that was the beginning of the end for me.

They didn't allow a mate in beyond their much vaunted manky velvet rope once - the reason? He had a black eye...

The fact he'd been in a charity boxing match at Th'Albert Halls earlier in the evening and was intending to have a couple of orange juices only was lost on them.

Wankers.

For a brief period I thought that place could work - it seemed to mix a drug-taking crowd with a pisscan crowd fairly amicably...

For about three weeks. :(

I don't remember the Wet T-Shirt thing though.

they actually asked me to leave there because I questioned why they didnt serve bitter, questioned it politely, but seemed to take the hump with the question.

Ideas way, way above their station, the proprietors of that place (then at least).

At least some of their funding came from the unlikeliest, and least credible source an' all...

We got turned away once as my mate had Rockports on. They weren't even Rockports. And the bloke had the shittest beard you've ever seen.

However, the worst was Life. My mate got turned away for being pissed. He'd not had a single drink. Showed them his copper ID to no avail. Daft cunts, making enemies with the people they'd be asking to bail them out!

Just dont get it how this still happens ,i got refused entry to the Swan in the summer ,just walked around the corner and went in thro the courtyard .The place was nearly empty ,do the management of any of these places know of the tens of thousands of pounds these wankers have turned away over the years!

Sign them up as orange warriors now  :innocent:

I remember a fair few years back bouncers in Bolton saying you couldn't come in wearing jeans when it was standard uniform for a night out in Manchester. The daft bouncers couldn't grasp that a pair of Armani's were more expensive than a frock from Bon Marche.

I dunno if this was the bouncers or the owners. I only own one pair of shoes, for weddings and funerals, I can't get in with my £80 trainers. Their loss, but proof what a backwards shithole town is. They can afford to turn away folk with money hey!
