February 16, 201412 yr Went over to Blackpool after a home game to see the lights once and Tom was parked up in his van with his missus having a brew from his flask. Had a good chat about the Wanderers game we'd just watched and various other things. Really nice bloke was saddened to hear of his passing.
February 16, 201412 yr Who out of the modern lot do you think our sons and grandsons will mourn the passing of without even seeing them play? There won't be many. Me and my brother repaired his garage door 8 years ago on a Friday afternoon. He was asking who we supported and if we were going to the match at the weekend. We didn't know who he was until we looked at the invoice when driving off his drive way! He lived right near Deepdale too. I've got a lot of respect for Tom and Nats generation of footballers. RIP

The commitment, dedication and humility of the man, and Nat and Tom and all those other lads from that time. Look around today at Rooney et al and ask yourself where it all went wrong. (And that's not to say all was rosey back then with players treated like serfs by the clubs etc, but I know which era had qualities you could admire and respect).
