Rembrandt Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Agree with this Drawing with 20 minutes left, could be his time. What ........ ? As a lone striker ? Quote
bolton va va Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 We've got at least 3 young uns scoring for fun and not one has been given a chance by the bloke who goes on about giving youth its chance. Instead he's bringing a kid back who hardly ripped up any trees when he was last here. Yet another baffling decision by a man who's made more mistakes in two thirds of a season than most managers are allowed in a whole career. But let's stick with him shall we til 'it's his team' and he's 'got rid of the dead wood'...by which time we'll be plummeting towards League 2. Any young uns "scoring for fun" are at a much lower level than the championship. The "kid" he's bringing back was highly rated for Cardiff in the championship last season.......so not a very baffling decision really. Vela, Hall, Odelusi, Youngs, White, Eaves have all played in the 1st team (others have been in the squad ) so Freedman is clearly trying to give youth a chance, but so far, none of them have done well enough to earn a regular starting place. If they aren't ready ,they aren't ready & there's no point damaging their progress by allowing simpletons in the crowd shout abuse at them. Quote

Illiev come on and scores a winner - cheered to the rafters. Iliev come on and team fail to win - booed off, and several years of building up his feeling for the club is undermined. Quote
jules_darby Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Which is why you always need to be careful how and when you blood youngsters When things aren't going well, it's a tough, tough task The crowd is clearly not pissed off at the kid but the general state of affairs and that frustration can boil over and disaffect the youngster Quote
Carlos Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 If we were mid-table, I think he'd chuck them in. Now, in a relegation battle, anyone wanting to throw kids in needs to lay off the crackpipe. Quote
Eavesy Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I am not having that those listed have been given a chance. Coming on with 10 minutes to go while we frantically boot it with knight upfront is not giving a chance. Starting 3 games in a row is a chance. Vela has looked the most likely when I've seen him. Normally 5 minutes later someone is scything him down and putting him out for 9 weeks. Quote
mickbrown Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I'm also not having it that any bugger would boo the kids. Quote
Garrp Posted February 18, 2014 Author Posted February 18, 2014 I'm also not having it that any bugger would boo the kids. Alonso played for us between the ages of 19 and 22 he was booed plenty of times. Quote
Garrp Posted February 18, 2014 Author Posted February 18, 2014 not sure about ages on this one but HUnt was definitely booed plenty too granted, that was probably more to do with him being a local lad. Quote

The ideal time to integrate a youngster into the team is when you've got a fairly successful, settled side, with experienced pros to help them & a supportive crowd. That's not really us at the moment !! Quote
davidjack Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 How old are Clough and Youngs? 18? 19? Plenty of players come through at that age. I'm not saying they're necessarily the answer straight away, but at least get em on the fucking bench. The selections he's made this season have given us our worst start in 111 years, a 7-1 thrashing and 2 home wins in 15...how much worse could it get?! Quote
mickbrown Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Alonso played for us between the ages of 19 and 22 he was booed plenty of times. Was he? Jesus we'd kill for someone that good now. Quote
Carlos Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 how much worse could it get?! Wolves last season, falling straight through. Surely that's worse, or am I imagining it? Quote
Garrp Posted February 18, 2014 Author Posted February 18, 2014 Was he? Jesus we'd kill for someone that good now. the worst I remembering it happening was Burnley away in the cup. He was absolutely lynched. Quote

This one - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/league_cup/9009801.stm So he was 19 and had been at the club (and left home for a foreign country) 3 months brilliant Quote

Eavesy Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Hunt didn't get booed directly as in what pratley got last season and what knight gets all the time and slowly what spearing is getting. He was just seen as the scapegoat and labelled as the liability. But he was playing alongside djorkaeff Okocha and speed, so he was bound to be seen as the weak link. Quote

Unfortunately if we are safe Birmingham may well be at risk of relegation. The way the fixtures fall isn't good for experimenting unless we win the next 5 home matches. Quote
BOWTUN BAKED Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Win a home match? Put the crack pipe down Malc. Quote
Ani Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Funny how people think the booing element would respect a players age. Kid makes a mistake but nothing said because he is 19 ? Christ the fact they are Bolton born bred hardly helped Julian Darby did it ? I think people are assuming irrational people will behave rationally. Quote
passmosster Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Nicky Hunt had a Ferrari, Franny Lee had a bog roll business when he was 21, and Greavo had a beard. It's called JEALOUSY. Quote
