Richard Sneekes

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but the site says I don't have permission to use the search facility.

"Richard Sneekes was named new Rushall Olympic manager ....... Evo-Stik NPL Premier.

Born in Amsterdam, Sneekes started his career in the famous Ajax academy and played three times for the club under the legendary Johan Cruyff before eventually moving to Bolton for £200,000 in 1994."   [ Non-League paper ]

Good on him. Wonder if he still has that cannon-ball shot ?

Are there no players around like that to be picked up (relatively) cheap these days ?

He did have the cannon ball shot a couple of years back in the masters 5 a aside he was best player on the pitch by a country mile.

I saw him a few years ago playing in the masters tournament, still had a ferocious shot and was the best player alongside david lee in the tournament

How many goals did he score for us?  My memories of him are the Burnden Terrace shouting "shhhhoooooooottttttt" a lot but his shots to goals ratio cant have been too great

How many goals did he score for us?

11

all screamers

According to Wiki he played 71 games for us, scoring 11.

Played 251 (scoring 34) games for West Brom, which surprised me.  Didn't realise he was there so long.

He's one of a number of players who played for us in a golden period and will always be fondly remembered.

When reads his names as Sneekes and who as Shnake-es

Loved him!

Screamers at Luton and Charlton spring to mind.

One of many childhood heroes of that era

Two in the same game at Huddersfield?

Was it his wife or daughter who was Miss Holland or something?

Played against us in both Play Off semis in 2001.

His daughter. She went to my school, a lovely girl.

I seem to remember Sneekes ending up with more links to WBA than us by the end of his career, settled down there etc
