  • Can't see him being played in position, he'll end up being a winger or somewhere useless. If Douglas wanted to play 2 up top, he would've gone with beckford and Davis up top in pre season

He's better than people give him credit for IMO. Always make good runs, and if we had a decent supply he'd be capable of getting a shed load.

his movement is good. when hes 1 on 1 with the keeper though he fluffed a few

him and CDavies could work imo

He will be lone striker..

We will play lone striker tonight

It's inevitable

Let's be right, he was average even at his absolute best in his spells for us.

If he's the answer, Christ knows what the question was.

"who can we realistically sign who is arguably better than Beckford and C Davies?"

I'm not sure who could be worse

sit tight, still 19 days of the window left

Average compared to what? Is he better than what we have? That is the only question that matters. (The answer is yes btw!)

If you play Beckford in his best role, with the style of play that suits him best, he will score goals.

If you play Mason as a lone striker, like Beckford has been, he too will look like Dogshit.

It's how it is.

Beckford does a good job of making himself look shit whatever system we play. He needs about 9 chances to score 1 goal which no good to anyone.

Even on Saturday he came on turns the defender to get a clear sight of goal then hits the side netting. Useless cunt.

Another chance was when the cross came in from the left and he went for it first time and completely missed it. Tough chance but he didn't even fucking skim the ball never mind hit it goalwards.

Our style of play (whatever the fuck that is) doesn't seem to suit him but missing chances like that is criminal, should at least be hitting the target occasionally.

You're missing the point.

It doesn't matter who it is, if you don't play to their strengths, you may aswell not play them at all.

As for Beckford, if he took a higher percentage of his chances, he wouldn't be here would he?

We shouldn't be resigning ourselves to mediocrity just because we're in the Championship. There are other teams in this league who have decent strikers that they haven't paid a fortune for.

Im not missing the point at all. I understand playing to players strengths is a good idea.

The problem is I am really struggling to work out what the fuck his strength is. Being shit and missing loads of chances doesn't really look good on his CV.

So we just accept that because where we are we cant sign or have any good players?

I understand we took a chance on him etc but it hasn't worked. Only so many times you can try polishing a turd before it turns to mush.

Too late fella,

That's exactly what we did when we appointed Dougie. I really don't think it matters who we sign from here on in.

Aye, we were ripping up trees before he arrived.

Thing is Beckford had a decent goal scoring record at Huddersfield when he played in a two up front with Vaughan. One in three i think.

i'm trying to remember what we had by way of strikers when coyle went

obviously, there was a fcuked kevin davies and chris eaves

who else?

I call bullshit on anybody who knew that at the time we appointed him.

Fair enough it hasn't worked out but he was a strong candidate for the job.

ahh, sordell, afobe and ngog

are we really any worse off, now

I for one thought it was a massive gamble.

I said at the time it wasn't a job for an inexperienced bloke.

Reebok no more

Any prize from the top shelf
