  • He should have gone a long time ago. All the signs have been there...going back to his crazy team selections which cost us a play-off place in his first season (Leicester away and Blackpool at home).

  • I'd not call it infighting per se but it's not nice being stood in the middle of a braying mob during a match. I do think some folk revel in acting the cunt. It's those I cant afuckinbide.

They're not playing for their manager and when that happens, you've got to pull the trigger. When the manager comes out and says the players he brought in are not good enough, his time's up. Surely even the most optimistic would see that.

I fully expect him to be potted late morning. I was in the camp of letting him go 12 months ago when it was clear he was too clever for his own good, his tactics were bizarre as well as his desire to distance himself from the players (got that last bit from a first teamer). But I accept he needed time to turn things around which he has had.

I'm very disappointed in Jay Spearing to be honest. I thought he would step up to the role of captain but not only is his passing and movement consistently poor, he's gone missing on the pitch as a leader.

I'm not sure who the right manager is really, most candidates have had success and failure at their previous clubs so it's a gamble whatever. The key ingredients are ability to nurture youth, get the buy-in of the seniors in a mentoring capacity with the emphasis on developing a side capable of mounting a promotion challenge within 3-5 years.

With a stable wage bill, secured debt, there being no expectations from the fans for promotion in the short-term and with a reasonably strong squad, despite what Freedman says, I think Bolton is an attractive proposition. I would be happy with Nigel Clough. He commands respect, has experience at this level, the football is attractive and he is long-term thinking with youth development. Fans expectations have probably changed since the time when Dougie was appointed. It was a question of who can get us up, now it's who can keep us in the league and help develop a platform for long-term stability and success.

Interesting Nigel Clough think I like that suggestion.

That line uo was a disgrace

Ream midfield ffs

It was another last throw if the dice and hope it works job

And I swear. Feeney on the left (who is the most one footed player we have) had the ball pumped to him all night from Lonergan. All night. Not once did he win the header. It's ridiculous

Can't believe he played Feeney on the left AGAIN.

He did for the first half anyway.

Iv no idea about the second half :)

Last night he cut a very lonely figure on the rare occasions he ventured out of the dug out. He looks tired, lost and completely devoid of any authority or fight. I thought it was a sad sight and the lack of interaction between dougie, his backroom staff and the players said it all.

Shit fan. Ha ha.

Cas, im not expecting you to change just because I have but whatever team and line up how does he not play Mason?

Just back in our hotel via a fruitless attempt to get a beer down the Kings Road. Wrote a rather lengthy post to sum up the whole evening and situation and then pressed the wrong bastard button and lost the lot. Rather summed up the situation.

In short, I've been a fan since 93/94ish (I'm 28 next month), but my mrs was taken along by her dad as a baby in the 80's and she's never been more devastated than she was at half time tonight. Kicked my apathy right up the arse.

Been working in Batersea all week. What an ideal opportunity to watch Wanderers in London.. Told me 2 or mates I was thinking of going they all took the piss. In the end I thought fuk it save me money ...glad I did

oh, i'm happy that he goes now

he's had a good run, he aint turning it round with these players and theres no opportunity to change the players

we're stuck with them for this season and freedman and these players probably cant keep us up

i dunno about mason, he blows hot and cold but granted is our best chance of a goal...but cant play up top on his own

gharlton - again! - had his view on the team

he'd removed all the younger end and gone for 'men' who could handle the pressure

Still a thinly veiling about it being the players' fault and poor Douglas is stuck with them

He put them together

He can't organise them

He can't motivate them

They certainly have a big part to play in our downfall, but he is the bandmaster

not at all

ive acknowledged theyre his players

its not me who said theyre not doing their best

Do you actually think that they are not trying?

no, cos i can't accept that pro footballers don't try

its something that some on here have mentioned and something charlton alluded to

i'm putting it down to a lack of confidence

what i would say is this

if horwich is right and theyre shite, we have problems

if theyre not trying, we'll be ok until the novelty of the new fella wears off

it its confidence, again, short term we might see an upturn

I don't think that they are shite individually; but collectively we aren't balanced and I agree completely that there is a holistic lack of belief

I reckon there will be a short term lift; as there was with Coyle

After that, it depends on 3 things:

Can a new Manager sustain momentum past that "change"?

How good the players actually are

Recruitment in the transfer window

The whole thing is very sad as it appears that the rot is currently institutional. Anyone coming in will have to be very, very good to get sustained success

Tough gig this now

They're definitely good enough to compete in this division, ie mid table.

I do think douglas will be a good manager. I have no doubt whatsoever he's not a coyle even though his team selections are now reminding me of coyle. I just wish he'd have found his best team and stuck to it, even if i didnt agree with it.

I've said time and time again, pick a team and run with it for a string of games.

If you need to make changes, make 1 or 2 at a time.

Round pegs in round holes.

Identify weak areas and attempt to strengthen them, instead of bringing more midfielders in.

Garp, have you any stats of shot on target for the teams in this league?

Good manager? Why? Do they now do brain transplants?

How many times have we played well this season? 10 games in and we are getting outplayed nearly every game.

now?

when do you think it started being tough

i think every manager since sam has had it tough cos the bar is set at top 8 in the prem when its bloody unrealistic

once we managed to get relegated, it got a whole lot tougher

Garp, have you any stats of shot on target for the teams in this league?

Expected goals is the best stat out there. We're not missing chances, we've score what we should have from what we have created. We're just not creating chances.

Ok it's always been tough, but I believe that successive Managers have all left the club worse off than their predecessor (and that includes the strangely lauded Megson)

The next Manager has to pick up the pieces of a broken team

Jules its not just a broken team the club is broken the fans are broken, the structure of the club is massively flawed, Gartside has presided over the whole charade and needs to be fired before we can go forward, everything needs to heal at the moment it is a festering open wound and the cause of the wound Gartside and to a lesser extent Freedman need to be removed. This is a long long job and needs a manager of exceptional quality and one who is good in a lot of areas motivation/discipline but one who is capable of putting his arm round players when needed one who can relate to our supporters and someone who has a good knowledge of BWFC god knows who but can do that job we have had 1 in the past in Rioch and we need lightening to strike twice we need a Rioch mark 2.
