I was best man at a wedding that day, and we all watched it on a really small tv at the reception. 10 days later, the world changed

Mad that those two events in my life were so close together, yet my memory makes the gap feel like years. I remember everything about 9/11 were i was who I spoke to and what they said,it all feels like yesterday. That game feels like a decade before

I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

I'm listening to a retrospective podcast about Germany 1-5 England, which on Tuesday will be its 25th anniversary.

TWENTY FIVE YEARS?

I was there with @Smiffs and a few other notrights off here.

A fresh faced 18 year old on my first England away. What a game to pick.

My lads only a few years younger than I was. Madness.

Just watched this.  Scenes.

That BWFC winger who scored and assisted won't be in non league next season surely.

Boreham Wood striker Abdulmalic moved to Sweden for £1.5mil.

They'd bid £1mil and it was turned down.

Probably the only BWFC in a position to turn down a £1mil bid for any player, would be great to have a striker worth that much!

I was there, but not with you lot.

My invite must have been lost in the post.

Yet the place is Borehamwood

But the football team is Boreham Wood so they can jump on the BWFC fame 😀

How many do you reckon we took over there?

About 3 times our allocation that's for certain.

We had 3 tickets for away end and 1 for the home between 4 of us so drew straws.

In the end our mate just walked from the home end to our end and as we were going in England fans behind stormed the turnstiles and the place flooded.

It was seriously dangerous at the top of the stand. We were stood on seats and lads stood on the floor in front, basically doubling up on each row. It was bonkers.

Having a vivid memory of two old lasses just having their flask and butties in the middle of it all.

I've probably mentioned it before but I remember getting to hotel room after game and on Sky News they were doing tomorrow's papers. All obviously drawn up before the result. Sure it was a 9pm Kick off GMT.

All the headlines were Battle of Munich and reports of the carnage before the game.

The result killed all that and most of the aggro went unreported. Good job really.

Our lot were right in the mixer.

Can imagine it being utter chaos in that ground with each goal! I seem to remember the day before and day of the game it was all about trouble - or rumours of trouble.

I just kept thinking I cant believe England are playing away in Germany they'll never let this happen again. We've had semi regular friendlies over there since 😀

Don’t like Villa’s home kit, looks shite.

Newcastle and Villa have broken into the top four so got champs league

Their fans will make it seem like a closed shop though

They're just not good at generating extra income

Who voted for it?

I didn't even realise they were playing

didn't realise losing EL qualifiers meant you then have to play an ECL qualifier

how embarrassing for them, their fans and those weirdos who have them as their second team

attention seekers all them*, they only ever pipe up when one beats the other. It's utter dogshit standard, and is laughably getting worse and worse

*Celtic & Rangers I'm talking about here - although they all come up with some bollocks as to why they like them

14 of the 20 clubs when it was introduced

Found this from The Athletic

Friday’s SCR refuseniks were Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, Crystal Palace, Fulham and Leeds United. Fulham clearly do not like being told how much money they can lose but you might be wondering why the rest of them were so opposed to a rule that should restrain wage-inflation and theoretically, at least, stop the sovereign-wealth-backed clubs from spending whatever it takes to diversify an economy/get a population healthy/rebrand a nation (delete as you see fit).

Villa and Newcastle fans seem to be up in arms that they have to sell their best players to meet the rules that their own clubs voted for
