  • Mrs CWP has a convertible as well, that's definitely a flatdick thing (and gayers as well of course)  -  has any heterosexual bloke every actually owned a convertible through choice?

  • Because they drink it in Leigh, got to compete with Wetherspoons.

It's watered down

You will not get the same mileage out the tank

water in petrol , you know fuck all about hydro-carbons then

www.petrolprices.com

I seem to find that I dont fill up as much when I use branded fuel.

May be psychological though.

I only fill up at harrods defo more miles to the gallon.

one fella on this thread definitely knows what he's on about

some others might do

ill trust the fella who lives in texas :)

Bet he thinks fuel is made to standards and stuff though the mentalist

aye, proper loon

You are talking nonsense, watered down indeed!

What the Shell & BP petrol does have though is extra additives to clean your engine which can improve mpg slightly and make the engine run a bit better - providing you fill up with it regularly.

I regular fill up at she'll, 99% of the time as soon as my odometer hits 410 miles the reserve light comes on. If I fill up up at morrisons it's around the 380 mile mark. Explain that.

The supermarket brands do not have as many additives in them, this will lead to the engine wearing quicker thus impacting MPG

on a tank by tank basis it will be the same

Its the additives that Shell put in that is making the 30 miles per tank difference. I suppose it depends if Morrisons is cheap enough to offset the miles lost.

I think it's summat to do with additives

So my point that cheap fuel is watered down is right then.

Not with water but lacking certain liquids.

Apologies accepted

I used to manage the Murco petroleum account

They have a refinery down South somewhere

The same stuff goes from their refinery to supermarkets, she'll esso etc etc

He said that its all the same stuff with same octain rating so anyone who says it's worse is talking out of their arse

The expensive superfuel stuff is a bit different as they mix some stuff in it to make it betterer

speaking of superfuel

Overpaid twats, mainly

Im currently thinking of getting a new car & I'm surprised at the fuel consumption on some I thought'd be high & they're really not. How do thry get power & not guzzle fuel these days?

Efficiency. Basically. Innit.

is it that simple? Fair enough then. I'm a proper Flat dick when it comes to shit n ting like this

smaller engines produced much more power now.

Is the correct answer

it’s not only bhp you look at you have to also look at torque, without that you don’t really go anywhere fast, also like Ford now and Saab before them we are back to installing turbo’s on cars, gives you extra power for less weight then a bigger engine would and of course less weight gives better MPG

you don't worry your pretty little head with such man things young lady, you should think more about baking and sewing and other such womanly activities

:D

what is deemed a good MPG for a car these days?  -  Mines running at 50.1mpg since I've had it, which I reckon is pretty good. Mrs CWP's runs at about 25mpg, which is absolute dog shit, but she does only do short runs and feels the need to drive every where at 100mph

So my point that cheap fuel is watered down is right then.

No you’re not, if nothing is added to supermarket fuel but add to shell the its shell fuel is 'watered' down as you say, as people have said it before it’s the additives that are added at the station that make a difference if any.

If your car as never had any type of engine or injector cleaner added, then after a few fill ups at a shell station you will see a upturn in you MPG ( but you can get the same results by buying an additive from a car care place , it really only needs to be done once a year, doesn’t need doing every fill up)

Another good way of increasing MPG and power is to throw away your stock air filter and replacing it with a K&N , this delivers more air to your engine and there your engine works better, and therefor again better MPG

smaller engines produced much more power now.

what you going for?

A3 convertible or an evoque convertible. Something with a roof that comes off & is a nice colour :)
