I knew nowt about Muslims and divorce so I just had a quick Google. An Islamic marriage in the UK isn't recognised in UK law. So if you have an Islamic wedding as far as the state is concerned you ain't married. Equally UK law doesn't recognise Islamic divorce. Same thing stands for Jews in the UK.

I've not heard anybody saying there should be any limits to free speech. I've heard a few suggest that just because you CAN say something, that it doesn't necessarily mean you SHOULD, but that's not the same thing.

No it doesn't. They don't have any jurisdiction in criminal law. They can help settle petty disputes, but believe it or not, we could have a Wanderersways court if we wanted to.
