Looking into this, a few things I didn't know ( amongst many other things)

Some Muslims don't like any image of the prophet Mohammed in any form , I was thinking it was the lampooning of him but some even kick off about medieval art depicting him being shown, and religious texts depicting him and have been since it was painted

The Quran doesn't forbid his image being shown but some have interpreted that it is forbidden ( interpretation causes some shit) along with images of other prophets which include Jesus

Some branch of Muslims don't care and wouldn't mind the painting type images as religious art

Iran is full of images of him apparently as they don't care and it's the only Muslim country where this is widespread apparently

I never knew South Park producers received death threats for having Mohammed in the cartoon years ago and so pulled and deleted the episode because of those threats,

Apparently, I could have offended some Muslims with this post by not saying " peace be upon him" each time I said his name.

 

I for the life of me can't see why a cartoon image of a man in a turban would cause murder.

There was a seemingly otherwise normal polite bloke on Alan Beswick this morning, he was an iman from some mosque, even though he was well spoken and seemingly normal in every way, he did criticise the magazine for putting the image on the cover again today but, while I was listening anyway, didn't criticise the gunmen or say it was wrong to react like that, he didn't say it was right either like, but it struck me as odd he didn't add the caveat of " yes it's offensive to me but not worth killing over " or similar. Gave the impression he was saying the magazine could bring it on themselves, and while not supporting the actions of the nut cases can understand why they did it .

Very disturbing article and it makes you wonder how did Yasmin Qureshi get the nomination for Labour in Bolton SE.

we agree then that it's an excellent read, very informative, but I think we take 2 different messages from it, i.e. just what these sides are

the vast marjoity of british muslims

now, personally, there's nothing I can do to make the opposite side of my line go away other than be aware that there is that line, and allow those who do want to integrate do just that, and make my side of the line stronger

because if you're not doing anything other than saying the same thing other and other, it appears your in that bracket, to me
