Will Chungy Play For Bolton Again?

Interesting article in the Bolton news tomorrow from Neil Bonnar posing the question will Chungy will ever play for Bolton again. Seems a strange article unless he has some inside knowledge.

  • whilst you are right that we don't really know the club's financials, what we do know is that he will cost us around 400k in wages, whilst we could get £1M for him   and he's leaving in the summer,

how does it benefit the club or NL's plans to have him in the team till then - given the general consensus is we can now start planning for next season.

Everyone keeps repeating this. Have I missed a press conference or something, where Lennon declared this season as a write-off?

Cheese in being contrary shocker. Our transfer window never closes.

I've never eaten dog shit but that doesn't mean it isn't blatantly fucking clear how much enjoyment would be involved.

Sometimes the obvious doesn't need to be stated.

Being contrary? I'd just rather see our best players playing for us. I'm not interested in guessing the in's and out's of financial dealings. I'm a football fan, not a hobby accountant.

As a fan I want us to win games. Primarily I want us to go up. Our best bet is obviously keeping all our good players and buying more good ones. But it is very evident that isn't an option given our situation and the recent history further affirms that.

So whilst you are correct that nobody knows what will or won't happen should Lee go or not go, that is what people are discussing and making their best guesses.

What would you say for example if Lee stays we don't go up (which if we're talking statistics thats the greatest chance this season) and Lee goes on a free and Lennon is told he has to make do with what he's got? Because again the facts that we have to our disposal suggest that is the most likely outcome should Lee stay today. Would you be happy knowing you'd seen him play a few more games for us? Or would you care more about the future games?

no, there wasn't one, keyphrase there there was "general consensus"

but as a football/bolton fan you must have seen enough over the years to have an inkling this one is not going to end with promotion or us being in a position to convince chungy to stay - fair enough if you're holding our for play offs or some vain hope he'll stay, but it's easy to comprehend why we are selling one of our best players, it's not for the sake of it

and that with the luck we're having with injuries and the fact he got injured on international duty that we may as well cash in whilst we can

and that it's quite possible lennon will be ok with this deal going through as it gives him a better chance of bringing in the best he can next season

it might just not be as black and white as keeping him because he's our best player -  it's plausible to have a think about why he's going, and then be ok with it

might be completely wrong, so what

I understand, but in a professional sport, money is quite important.

What about next season, when he's not playing for us and we don't have any replacement as we've spent it all on 6 months of Chungys wages?

The guy has had a handful of decent games in 3 years. It's been nice but we won't miss him as much as people think

Where has Neil Lennon said "We need to sell Chungy so we can spend his wages on someone else"?

Where has Neil Lennon said "We need to sell Chungy so we can spend his wages on someone else"?

Pretty sure no manager would say that publicly. But you can sometimes read between the lines.

He stays, fair enough.

He goes, we get more budget and finance for players.

No surprise that we are talking to a few players now. If Chungy goes, green light for at least a couple.

He has said this, is it close enough?

“We don’t know how much money we’re playing with,” he told The Bolton News.

“At lot hinges on whether the Chungy deal, if there is one out there, goes through or not. And if it does then there might be a bit of a scramble.

“We have enquired about a few players and things tend to speed up at this time of the window.”

Chungy is at Palace's training ground right now if Palace local reporters are to be believed.

I stand corrected. Still hope he stays, and I'm sure Lennon would rather keep him than lose him too.

Chungy at palace training ground at the mo!

anyone know where Chungy is at this moment?

Anybody any idea where Chungy is?

Anybody any idea where Chungy is?

he disapeared for 18 months so cant see anybody finding him today.

Bad move for the lad. Seems rushed.

He should have sat out his deal and thought about the right move. Wouldn't have been short of suitors as a free agent. Palace still a relegation possibility - here's hoping he has a get out clause.

Just in on Sky Sports now, Chungy down at Palace.
