No one is saying certain pricing promos can't work on a short term bump for a match, but the % dropped by the take up, gives such poor ROI it isn't worth it in the longer term and you end up devaluing

Get a cross in, your having a laugh. Generally his crosses and corners are shocking.

Are they fuck.

His corners to the near post that dont clear the 1st defender are obviously a decision made by coaches. He's aiming for the runner at the near post twas mills numerous times against the dingles. Out of 4 or 5 goes it worked once and we nearly scored from it.

If it wasn't Lenny would have made sure he wasn't doing it.

He's been playing on the left recently so his crossing is suffering but I'd say he's still created more chances and goals than anyone else since he's been here.

their was a Blackburn fan on their forum saying their was no Bolton fans in darwen and he only knew one. Theirs loads that I know quite a few go in the park. Peter Nicholson & Mark Patterson go in sometimes.

I bloody well will! I used to run a mini bus back in the day. We went down to Brighton lincoln in the cup that Saturday night and we did a couple of Wembley trips.

No trains tomorrow

2 hours and 14 minutes from Blackpool North.

Fook that.

No trains tomorrow

don't worry, when our Julie rules the world there'll be one every 5 minutes.

I'll be interested in seeing the increased attendance percentage against income, and then measure this over the next home games, then against the first home game of next season.

Even better would be to see where the 5 quid tickets come from postcode wise and what their past booking history is. But that's because I'm a reet sad bastard.

Oh and as an aside, hope we win.

Surely the club should be contacting anyone with any kind of booking history directly - as a matter of course?

They can't

Not without offering the same deal to Millwall

I think

What? Send an email advertising the offer that's on? Or the season ticket deals? Why wouldn't that be allowed?

if you're on their emailing list you do. Unless those who've previously bought on the Internet have ticked the do not contact, the club will contact them.

Aye, the old hard sell technique is renowned for its success.

No, they can.

There is no law to cover that.

But again, DJ. The message is a bit wonky. So you mail however many thousands, with an offer that is not a direct sale but that you have to find a friend to take up the discount. You might as well print leaflets and then have a big bonfire, you won't cover the cost if design, print and mailing.

Or you could segment the data by mailing those who previously had a season ticket in the last two years in a half an hour drive time, on the basis they might probably know someone who is, are close enough to make a last minute decision (as all reduced priced promos are for events) based on price alone and message this correctly. Again a waste of time and money, which is why this is a social media promo only, as a quick punt; and quite rightly too.

How's sending an email to someone already on a mailing list a waste of time and money?

This week's offer wasn't for the lapsed fans though was it, it was for those with a season ticket so Crawley is right, what would be the point of mailing them. They're always going to need a season ticket holder to do this for them.

all we are saying is give DJ a  chance

I thought if we offered fiver tickets wed have to offer them to millwall

You are assuming that they know all of the above and can segment the data in that fashion. If they can't, again it's waste of time for the percentage if take up.

Given you give a lot of thought to this, I'm not sure marketing is your forte.

Sorry, that's twattishly dismissive, but please you need to understand effort and cost against the return.

God, sorry for even starting this. My fault, please everyone back to the proper match thread.

Anyone with a booking history is pretty likely to know a season ticket holder, or know someone who knows someone. Just making them aware there was an offer on seems sensible. I'd like to think most season ticket holders will have asked around and tried to tempt lapsed fans back - with varying degrees of success. But an extra nudge couldn't have done any harm, if targeted and not bombarded.

...or they could just make it a fiver for everyone and email everyone on their database, since they'll all be eligible for the offer. Charlton did just that last week and over 25,500 turned up.

Nah, Cas, it's a promo for home fans with someone with a subscription. As Millwall fans don't tend to buy season tickets for Bolton, we're all good just to offer it to home fans.

I mean there might be one Millwall fan who really likes us and travels up every home game; but I don't think it'd make a dent on match day receipts.

Pressing 'send' to a mailing list of those with a booking history (assuming we're sufficiently organised to have such a thing, which I know is a big if) hardly seems a huge amount of effort, if we're looking at a cost benefit analysis.
