Pensions

I know there's one or 2 involved in the financial sector and think Hazzy is a FA but don't want detail advice just any tips on best way to take a pension contribution from my employer, would it be better them paying into a company fund or straight into one of my existing pensions? Also want to chip in some more pension from my own salary again best into existing pension or into company scheme? Company pension is not up and running yet but the company said they'd hold my contribution to one side and then pay it in as and when the pension fund set up. Thanks in advance.

Relying on a mix of property investments and two work pensions to sort my future out

A guy at work was telling me about his mate who has taken the decision to rely on his wife parents inheritance, reducing their mortgage to interest only in the process. They're only my age so could have quite a wait yet!

Almost all old biddies are miserable moaning f*ckers regardless of if they're monied or not, there's no reason to think we'll be any different, so why bother saving for old age?

If I had kids I'd be telling them in no uncertain terms to expect not a jot by way of inheritance and to sort themselves out -  as all my cash would be going on Moondrugs, space whiskey and alien prossies once I had nowt to live for anymore (I'd be a non-miserable old f*cker exception to the rule).

I think my kids have the same hope

Actually, I might leave them sommat if they planned on using it for something worthwhile, setting up a cult with me as some form of deity, for example, if they were just going to use it to buy a bigger house or a nice car they could get f*cked.

My dad's been telling me, almost daily, since the age of about 11 that I'm getting fuck all when he dies.

He's got some mad cap idea about retiring, selling his house and renting somewhere, spunking the money within a few years then living off the state.

He's not been without work for 43 years,, never claimed a penny, owns his own house in a nice part of town and lives a comfortableish life.

He's a fucking mentalist!

He should, my parents had plans to practically become gyppos, well, live in a caravan* (for 11 months of the year iirc) and live large (as large as semi-pikeys could) off their house money etc. unfortunately they both pegged it before they had the chance to...(I was not implicated in any way by the way and profitted in no way from their demise :( ).

* a 'nice' one, on a 'nice' gyppo site, one with a bar and pool and all that, the tramps.

We used to holiday on them sites. They are called "haven" and they get you to buy over priced shite through fear of being attacked by their knock off Tony the Tiger.

What woud he pressurise the old folk into buying, more ornaments for their caravan (like the one below)?

Yeah selling that along with shit tiger club cassette tapes with 4 tracks for 9 quid and being able to overwhelm even the most resistant folk to join in the talent show are all in his stride.

He's bang on right what's the point in leaving your money and not experiencing the things he's not had money or time to do while working if there's something left when he's gone great if not you know he's had a great time and done what he wanted to do.

My parents are doing the same and good luck to them. No different than expecting handouts really.

I don't expect owt off him when he pops it. Never have. I just can't imagine him living off the state after spending all his life providing for himself.

I've told mine as long as there's enough to cover the funeral then I'm not arsed!!

I want them to arrange their own funeral too, at least get something down in writing about where they want to go etc.

My Mum wants to be cremated at dawn in springtime (it's her favourite season) and is torn between it being on a beach, a mountain or in a woods. The crackpot, I've told her she can fuck off if she thinks I'm trying to sort that out. What if she dies in the autumn? Where is the nearest mountain anyroad?

I reckon Winter Hill should do you

There are some mountains in New Zealand

Gotta look after yer mam, you only have one

Told her she can make all the arrangements herself then I can just make a call when it happens

She's not that keen on planning her own funeral yet though.

If she doesn't do it then she is in charnock Richard crem

Not specific to birch's post, but, you've only one mum (and dad, unless your Elton John's kid) so BD is right in a way, but the attention and fuss should be during their lives imo, means feck all fannying around with fancy funerals when they've passed...

They won't know either way.

Leave the horse drawn charades etc. to cockney twats who only ever kneecapped their own - spend what it would cost in life (or on a legacy of some kind if the cash is tied up in insurance/death policies - or lend them the money upfront). That's what I say!

Anyone who subscribes to this should sort their own wishes out in advance, otherwise the ones left behind will get stung by everyone in sight involved in the planning, and not want to say no to owt because they feel it might be a slight or disrespectful.

Mine too, and I wouldn't have it any other way, they have about 4 holidays a year now.  If they do leave anything it will be for the Grandchildren.  I'd much rather they enjoy their retirement.

Are we brothers?

As a side note.

My brother (is an absolute scrote) hasn't bothered with our parents for 15-20 years, other than to turn up with an outstretch hand and a sob story every 6-12 months.

Now they are getting to a certain age and level of health he's round every week doing odd jobs etc.

Absolute scumbag.

You'd like to think most kids would want that for their parents. Couldn't agree more bcg.

Yep. Just seen it all with my great Aunt that pegged it a few months ago.

All came crawling out of the woodwork in the months leading up to her death. Family from Bolton that had not been seen for decades all of a sudden turning up with their kids for days out by the sea.

Wankers.

All our kids are agreed with us that their grandparents should spend their money enjoying themselves in their twilight years.
