  • True, but the simple fact is that if Labour had got in and proposed this identical budget the press and other media would have ripped them to shreds.

  • It's always the bankers fault. Whatever the question is.

Given your limited ability to understand any concept that doesn't fit in with a rather limited worldview, I'd say your book reading stopped around Topsie and Tim.   Or Mein Kampf.

Car tax. Fuck off....

Car tax. Fuck off....

Plus increase in insurance tax.

I note that Osborne is slowing down the rate of cuts. Which is what Labour argued for ahead of the election. And apparently anyone who argued for that was a Commie on here.....glad that Osborne has seen sense over this.

i never get the huge issue with the cost of car tax. people kick off royally when its about £10 a week. not a bad return to have a decent motorway structure.

Because we don't have a suitable motorway structure. It is horrendous.

I spend a lot of time on the motorways, and I think it's far from horrendous

Car Tax has nothing to do with funding roads or motorways

I spend a lot of time on the motorways, and I think it's far from horrendous

Osborne himself is saying our current motorway network isn't sufficient. I mean it was fine in the 70's. Now it is completely inadequate for capacity.

If we fucked you lot off and surrounding towns the motorways would be ace. Edinburgh to Preston no problem. Preston to Wigan utter carnage

What's hapoened with the 40p tax rate

Talk of it starting higher but I can't find anything

Edit - found it,moving from £42,385 to £43,000

That cunt Osbourne's said he would get it to £50k by the end of this parliament, if he goes at this rate it won't even get half way

Unless he does the old trick of doing it just before the next election so it costs fuck all during his time as chancellor

Cunt off you horrible cunt

It will kick in next year at £43,000 as opposed to this year's £42,365.

I find it interesting that the election rhetoric was a lot about Labour not doing anything for those in the middle.

Osborne has done a lot for low paid workers - seeing him at least partially adopt the living wage is good. He's helping out the higher end of the wealth scale with inheritance tax changes. And he is penalising those on welfare, students and people with kids.

But folk in the middle? He's pretty much ignored them.

I don't think it is a bad budget at all. But definitely an early term budget. No way would he have done that just before an election.

Liked the abolition of child tax credits for 3rd child onwards, but child benefit should be the same and no child benefit to any household whose income is more than £40k.

Control over fire services, planning and children's services to be handed to consortium of 10 councils in Greater Manchester

Sounds risky to me

Those earning more than £150,000 will have their tax-free contributions allowance tapered away from its current £40,000 per year to a minimum of £10,000.

We'll have to wait and see how that looks in detail

Tax relief on mortgage interest for landlords;

He will restrict tax relief to the basic rate of income tax from 2017

- a rise in the 40p income tax threshold to £45,000 by 2019

Why should a household that earns £40k potentially by one parent get less than one bringing in £39k from potentially 2 parents

The household earning £35k over two parents takes home more after tax than a household with one parent bringing in £40k anyway

PAYE tax should be calculated over household income the if benefits are, at least you can share the salary at the lower tax threshold

That's fucking disgusting, what happened to £50k over the course of the government? What a lying cunt

- a rise in the 40p income tax threshold to £45,000 by 2019

It was £43,875 in 2009-10.

(But he did reiterate up to £50,000 by 2020)

Exactly, it's still further back then when he took over

Yet he is going to put it up £5k just in time for the next government (whoever it maybe) to pick up the tab for it
