And there's proxies all over the place. You better be bloody sure you know what you're doing if you're going to start assassinating high ranking officials in sovereign states. Perhaps one too far, and someone has stood up to them. Syrian regime in known for its evil acts, but once they gassed their own folk, a line was crossed and allies hit relevant infrastructure. Aye, seen that. Would guess embassy staff would be safe for the time being, but that might change. If does show the creeping influence Iran is having in the country though.
