Soccer Casual Early 80S Other Fans.

Shocked to see Wigan fans all togged out at Halifax in 82 on a random day out looking the part in the pubs.

Not exactly early 80s but when myself and a couple of the London lot walked straight into a sea of about 90 Wolves lads all of whom I'd say were in their 20's( they were on route to Millwall), I have to admit I was impressed maybe even envious.... then I heard them speak :) It was either outside Euston or Kings Cross and the poor BTP didn't have a hope of rounding them up and we were playing away at Brum that day.

Did you not start windmilling?

There was 3 of us, I think our cockney accents helped us walk through without any trouble.

First time I saw an inkling of the casual wear albeit in a small way was towards the latter of the 81/82 season at home v Sheff Wed when a group of around 30 Bolton surrounded a few Wednesday fans in the home section of the embankment. Most of the Bolton lads were Morris Green or Rupert lads.

Pre season a few months later at Rochdale saw a huge turnout all in Fila, Ellesse, Tacchini, etc

It was like a bomb had hit the terraces in Bolton.

First match that season was at Burnley, mentioned on here many moons ago, hundreds of Bolton lads went early doors dressed up and looked the part.

Off to get me Hovis tune played now................but fuck me pink, those were the days and turning point for our lot.

Seeing you lot at Blackpool (obviously not miami white of course) early 80's outside their main pub was the first time for me.

Well, those that get it, will know that scousers created the "casual" thing in England

Aye but not fucking blue ones.

They only time they got chance to shoplift en masse overseas was in New Brighton.

????

Is that a Ninja Turtle?

Yes.

There's not many better dressed than our very own Randy West.

He was wearing Barbour before it was even sold in mainstream shops. First lad I knew wearing aquascutum after its rebirth too.

That long brown leather SI number needs to be boxed and framed and put in the casual hall of fame :)

Ian G?

Yes.

Cracking fella

First real head turner and seeing someone wearing something different was around 88/89 outside the Alma..Terry C wearing a Mille Miglia....remember it quite vividly as the first time I saw a Bolton lad wearing Osti gear.

I preferred the Cinquecento Miglia that was popular around Leith in the late 80s.

Yes.

Top fella, watched a few chorley games with him a couple of years ago.
