Old Soccer Graffiti

On a recent trip to Barrow, it was sad to see the old cinema being demolished, because the faded scrawl of FULHAM FC was just about visable to the naked eye, it must have been done about 69/70 season, a vintage year for spraypainters, remember outside the bloomfield rd kop, must have been every teams name in the country on that wall! :D

What's that one on the way to St Helens say?

St Helens 5 miles?

On our trip to Mansfield in 86/87 there was a big BWFC painted in white on a blue wall on the side of the stand to our right.

We hadnt played there for 8 years and it has always puzzled me if it had been there since 77/78 or since earlier that day.

On one or two episodes of The Sweeny, shot in Oxford, can be seen Con - BWFC.

The Con in question was an old work colleague of mine from Horwich Loco Works. It was one of his proudest moments and a great claim to fame.

Remember reading about this years ago in an old Wanderers Worldwide.

If I remember right, they used to think/guess that the scenes where near Fulham.

I haven't seen him since Portsmouth away last season but I'm pretty sure it was Oxford. Maybe he's one of the exiled Whites who uses this site under a psuda. . . psuder. . . different name and will be able to confirm.

John Thaw lived in Oxford in Inspector Morse so I'm betting it's Oxford

Having been schooled in Kearsley, but lived in Bolton, I used to get off the number 8 and walk home past the back of the Embankment. There was some quality scrawl on there, but one piece always stood out in my mind...
