Black Sabbath Sunday

Well the End is near.

Sabbath's last ever gig in Manchester.

Six of us are heading for an afternoon of steady drinking followed by 2hrs of Ozzy mayhem.

I know of one other poster who is attending.

Anybody else going ?

They were superb at the last download they did in 2010. They brought their own stage c/w giant inflatable Rosie and also their own sound system, that blew the main stage out of the water. They were loud, almost as loud as Korn at the apollo!

Yep was an amazing gig.

But it was strange having a totally empty stage for the rest of the festival.

It was my lads first proper gig . He was 11 at the time.

Loves his music but is no way a metal head .All.hardcore , fans knocking sevenbells out of oneanother whilst some nutter screams at them.

As for pit wounds I got punched in the bollocks crowd surfing at Ozfest at the Milton Keynes bowl way back when.

Fair few black eyes, busted nose and lips.

Saw a guy dislocate his shoulder in the pit, his mate popped it back in and they bounced off back into the pit. No idea whether that was a regular occurrence for him but he didn't seem overly phased.

You lot need some of this in your life.

All that aggression can't be good for you :)

I got put on my arse at faith no more in Glasgow

Full on whack, either a fist or an elbow, to the forehead

It's always looked a bit dented in certain lights from cetrain angles, and a bit red, since

Got nutted by the back of someones head at foo fighters at mk bowl, one of them ones to the nose that makes you really Fuckin angry for about 5 seconds

They're the only two times I've got involved in a mosh pit

Now I'm an owd bugger I stand back left with a pint. Unless booze tells me otherwise.

A for the video not my cup of tea I'm afraid, my taste in music is pretty varied but could never really get into that kind of thing.

He didn't fancy the wall of death at killswitch then mate? :)

I miss the Ainsley Harriot look-a-like front man

Haha i broke my thumb in the pit at KSE early 2000's. Had to do all my uni exams on a typewriter (!)

Witnessed flying kicks to peoples heads at Caliban and Lamb Of God at Download around that time too.

I got into reaching for the lasers after that

I've been knocked on my arse in mosh pits plenty of times, but always found people give you space to get back up or pull you up themselves. Had my nose bust open with a stray elbow at Papa Roach at the academy a few years ago.

Aye and it's usually the massive tattooed lumps that will help you up quickest. The rule at metal shows is usually the more they'd frighten yer granny the nicer they are.

To be fair on the whole I always find the crowds at metal gigs the most together and least bellend-ish of any genre of music I've been to

I think your right.

I've also found this with the gabba techno and hard style nights I've been to. The genre, like metal is an acquired taste and a musical taboo. That offers a sense of unity between the revellers imo.

It's the middle of the road stuff when you get cunts from all over thinking they are nails you have problems. See Jake Bugg and the courteeners as prime examples.

I honestly never saw one kick off at any of the metal/ rock gigs I went to as a youngun, same applies for cream nights, code, crasher, north etc.

Oasis and all that bollocks was a different story.

I think your right.

The difference between the atmosphere in the crowds at Leeds festival and Download is dramatic.

Theres always lads spoiling for a scrap at Leeds especially on the last night, don't think I've ever seen real bother at Donnington.

Repressed homosexuals...

If Liam Gallagher came out as liking men's bottoms their fanbase would largely disappear overnight.

Same goes for any other lad/dad rock bands.

That said I have had shit in metal pubs due to being dressed smartly, usually off tits who were shitting in their nappies and smearing it on their face when I was down the front at Morbid Angel, Carcass etc. gigs... :)

Spot on that frank. The moodiest pit I've witnessed was of all bands Sum41 at Leeds! Full of horrible cretinous teens that would sooner stamp on your head than give you a helping hand up.

Killswitch, Metallica, slipknot, SOAD, Korn, Lamb of God etc. all rough pits but never any bother.

Yeah, always had that experience. Metal gigs have always been the safest places, especially helping women out when the crush gets a bit much.

But watching Indie bands there are just pricks who just seem to be up for getting pissed and having a fight.

Got rid of the spare mate so back up to six as well now.

Will look out for you on our pre-gig watering in manc.

Great Gig,

Nice meeting you in Lower Turks Head. Moved onto The Castle.

Then returned to meet up with usual not rights.

Thought Ozzie was on form.

Public transport back to Bolton a disgrace for a Sunday night.

Had to speed walk to Piccadilly to get a buzzz rail replacement .

Roll on Black Star Riders in March plus Iron Maiden in May.

Not with Ozzy about.

Aye literally bumped into you. Did Hare & Hounds, went Unicorn but sacked it off due to no decent beer choice, ended up in Abel Heywood the Spice Lounge for a curry. Great gig, War Pigs favourite of the night. We booked a chara rather than battle the train so door to door. Will let you know if attending BSR and catch you at Maiden.

????????????

Grumpy, he'd be apoplectic.

Nice meeting you in Lower Turks Head.

Were you all sat in that alcove towards the back of the pub on the left?

Saw some Sabbath fans sat there
