British Cycling

Sack loads of Olympic medals. Tour De France. Velodrome dominance. British Cycling is the only sport that we are the best in the world at. Made me proud when cyclists and coach's joking complained about hearing our national anthem every half hour. Now the news is full of dodgy jiffy bags. None existent medical records. Suspect use of TUE's. Bullying & sexism. None of it sounds or looks good. If this was Russian cycling every bugger would be crying foul. No cheating proven, and may not be, but it's all leaving a bitter taste. I reckon other countries are privately saying, I told you summat was fishy. Understandably too.

Heard that myself- Jason Kenny still got his wrigglers though.

He is not connected with British Cycling in any way (OK, his father was a cyclist, like mine).

I was once introduced to a former Olympic cyclist in Radcliffe. I think he was related to the owners of Ainsworth Road Garage. Really old guy who raced at an Olympic Games between WWI and WWII.

Just saying like.

Could be Harry hill that? My sister in law knocked him off his bike about 10 years ago. He was about 80 and had cycled all over Europe and never been knocked off his bike. Think he cycled to the Olympics in Europe somewhere then won bronze and cycled back. She felt shit, He was alright but his bike had had better days

Indeed.

Born Padiham 1916, died Bury 2009.

Brought up in Sheffield and rode to London to join the Olympic team. Won bronze in the team pursuit, beating Germany after losing semi final to Italy.

Cycled home from London (on his racing bike) but, exhausted and without money or food, had to hitch the last 30 miles.

Rode every day from age 13 to 78.

Til he got knocked off?

No. A fall in Spain.

What I find odd and very suspect in all this is Sir David Brailsford. For someone who deals in the aggregate of marginal gains, and the attention to detail in every matter concerning BC. I find it difficult to believe that Team Sky/BC (basically him) could be so amateurish in the process failures in the anti-doping and medical procedures they used. That should have been more important than the weight of the bike seat and the number of micrograms in the paint that covered the things.

Seems very dodgy.

What I don't get is why give Wiggins something after a race he has already won?

Some would say a masking agent.

If Wiggins is guilty can we unadopt him, and he go back to being a southerner again?

Thought he was Belgian?

Belgian ackshully.

Froome would have won Le Tour when Wiggins did if it were not fir team orders. Wish he had now.

I knew wiggo was off his tits when he sat on a throne dishing out Winston Churchill V signs.

He could not receive it during the race, only once it was over. The objective was to aid recovery before the big race.

Mod see. Quite partial to the odd green & clear, benny or blue.

Belgian ackshully.

Southerner then, has he got any children locked in a cupboard?

  • 11 months later...

Looks a bit shit for sir Bradley

It does; though I'm not entirely sure there won't be some sort of court action taken be wiggins or sky. Not like the medicines weren't allowed nor has cycling appeared to have done much to limit use of stuff under Tue.

Perhaps our Sammi should utilise some of them...

My only question is were all the other cyclists at it as well?

In order to get a TUE don't they have to produce evidence of a condition?
