We didnt do that much over there- just tackled the chemical weapons bit.

Russia did far more damage with its continued support of the regime.

The new guys in charge took advantage of Russia's distractions elsewhere, consequently yielding a boost to the numbers of those fleeing. 

One thing for sure, Europe can't keep absorbing the numbers.
