4 labour mps turned up.

Says a lot.

Mind you, they'll be too busy worrying about their seats.

Even more so that the Ms Thieves has just seen an increase in inflation.

Fwiw; many mps will have had other, pre-existing appointments, constituency work etc, which prevented them from attending.

Trying to make pointed political points, without knowing the situation with each and every one, is sad, but not surprising.

Those that could have attended, but didn't should look at themselves, but we don't know who they were.

It took you 6 minutes to contradict yourself.

Yep. Headlines on BBC news this morning. No mention of attendees at an inquiry. Another distraction from the real issues.

I read somewhere it was 2.

It is.

It's on the link I put up.

Got mixed up.

Same link says a good number of Conservative mps did turn up- no politicial capital efforts by the arachnid about that.

I do think it would have been pertinent to have some representation from each party at the hearing- for reasons such as this if nothing else- and heaven and earth should have been shifted to make that happen.

However, we don't know what efforts we're made along those lines.

I would like to think that mps would have already availed themselves of the testimony of victims though- there have been plenty of interviews with some and reports about them.

I don't mean transparency on the data leak, I mean transparency on the costs associated to it

That and the number of people granted asylum should never have been hidden from official data

I think the key question is also ‘who knew’ most MPs would not have had a clue, so it was a call by the leadership

Would it be a bombshell if the Tory Deputy Chairman knew ?

I actually think they did the right thing in some ways, but once the list was leaked would have thought the baddies would have found out somehow.

As a minor party with about as much relevance as the LibDems or Greens, they've fuck all else to do with their time.

At a guess, probably the people directly involved, senior civil servants, the PM, senior cabinet ministers, and their counterparts in the shadow cabinet

But it'd certainly be an interesting question for 30p Lee to answer

Regardless, it seems astonishing to me that the details were kept out of official figures

This is what I can't understand, surely they knew the number would eventually come out, and let's be honest, it's not a good look when it appears to have been covered up

I suppose he's got a point, although I'd be surprised if he wasn't also aware of it happening at the time.

This will no doubt run and run. I still find it incredible that it wasn't just made public knowledge, no way was it going to be kept under wraps (unless those in power at the time knew they were fucked, and just wanted to kick it down the road a bit until they knew somebody else would be in charge)

Seems like that was official Conservative policy for at least the last 5 years of their Governance.

I think it was only the last 2 years they were actively doing that, the 3 years prior to that was just bumbling incompetence.

I note Rupert Lowe's comments on this.

Interesting that Lowe, who has a more hawkish view on migration than Reform, was the one who organised it.

He's a brilliant MP: one for the constituents and the public in general.

Just for balance, the list of attendees is here, and as all parties have condemned the rape gang culture, perhaps the list says as much about them all.

Reform removed the whip

He was MEP for about a year for West Midands

No wonder politics is fucked if that's a brilliant MP

He's more overtly racist than most though. That's why TMGJ thinks he's great.

Given how incensed Reform were about there being no inquiry, I just think a zero turnout is rather odd.

Some might say they couldn’t actually give a fuck about the victims and dull meetings about them are a waste of their valuable time.

Time which is better spent bobbing around on the channel looking for dinghies.

Some might say.

Given the weirdos that live in Horridge the complaints they'll get over it will be strange as fuck. Water flows up hill there.

It is quite funny on Twitter with Tory ex ministers all saying ‘it was nothing to do with me’ . Not sure why one of them does not turn round and defend it. Think a lot more people than they think support us looking after folk who helped us out.

As for Reform, there is always a Tweet.
