Giro (D' Italia)

Featured Replies

Bury boy Simon Yates has doubled his lead to 32 seconds with today's stage win.

Aiming to be first British born winner of a Grand Tour. Looking absolutely fabulous as well on both summit finishes so far.

Brother is back from a broken pelvis this evening in California so hopefully on track for a crack at the Tour. Froome looks so poor (and will hopefully have faced justice by then) that it will be anyone's game this Summer.

I was wondering if it was Giro day today...

He has said he wants to face justice to prove his inocense.

I know where you're coming from but our own Sammi must be loaded with asthma medicine at times.

Maaaaaaaarsh spouts the froooooooome is shit line every year

Even a broken clock etc

It is great to see Yates doing well, though

Pleased for Yates so far but Dumoulin's the man to beat.
His strength is Time Trialling and hanging on in the mountains.
It's reckoned that Yates needs to be at least a minute and half in front of him before they get to the TT in the last week to stay in front of him.
Froome seems to be off the pace with the fall the day before the prologue and another one since.
There is a cloud hanging over him anyway, maybe he should tactically retire from this and save himself for the TdF.
One to look out for in the TdF is Primoz Roglic.

Plenty of climbs left after the TT, and based on his form so far I'd be impressed if Tom finishes within 45 seconds of the winner on Saturday. Not looking to be in the same form as last year, and a much harder route.

I await Jules input....

...Faster

:)

They should have these races around Liverpool, Scousers love a giro

what a weekend

froome wins the most difficult stage, and yates has two exceptional days

i can see yates actually doing this

can we claim him for bolton

What like the nevilles?

Fuck off. stop that. Now.

Fuck off. stop that. Now.

Hahaha.

Apparently he did frequent my former local once, not sure why, but I'm sure he'd have got some grief.

Been a decent watch this

Just been reading up on Yates, didn’t realise he’s also had a doping ban on the back of misuse of Asthma medication

Are they all asthmatic then?

Are they all asthmatic then?

It appears so....or we could just be honest and admit that every single one of them is a cheat

Dumoulin gained 97 seconds, so Yates still leads by 56 seconds with 3 big mountain stages on Thursday to Saturday.

Far from over, but definitely in a good place. [Froome is 3min 50 secs down in fourth.]

Yates looks strong enough to go again on the coming climbs

It's been an absolute masterclass, so far

Utter dominance

Enjoyed it. But there are some crippling climbs this week and I just hope Yates has enough in the tank. He’ll need his team to be strong.

Froome is too far back and always blows out on at lease one mountain stage.

Yates cracked today but still leads. Losing time to Dumoulin on an uphill finish not a good sign.

Tomorrow is anther day.

He did and you are right

Tomorrow is another day

Thinking I'll record the lot tomorrow

All over for him, won't even finish top 10 sadly. Hope he's ill and can put this right in the Vuelta.
