Seem to remember watching Wigan RL around that time in a John Player (?) cup game with a massive crowd. Keep thinking Salford and massive trouble on the Burnden Paddock but don't think it was that game. Widnes?

Always remember seeing a coach with the same flag on the way to every game. Blue Scottish flag with Andy Walker's name on it in the back window of the coach. Can't remember if McGinlay's name was on the flag as well? Walker's definitely was
February 25, 20197 yr The day after Widnes sign Jonathan Davies, they were playing at burden Against Leeds, I think Big crowd as for some mad reason it was thought Davies might play Pretty sure Wigan played Salford, more likely a challenge cup semi, though Edited February 25, 20197 yr by Casino

The Wigan Salford game think we was at Preston away 2-2 game, stopped off in Chorley on way back all hell broke out in pub near train station when Wigan fans arrived back and one of the Bolton lads snatched Wigan flag and snapped it in half. A few pint pots smashed that night I can tell you.

Went to quite a few RL games at Burnden but my memory is shite as to what comp they were
February 25, 20197 yr Not important really Didn't Swindon use burnden as their home ground for night matches for a bit Pretty sure I attended one Lord knows why
February 25, 20197 yr Author Aye. Not important but was good to be on a full Burnden in those days whatever Note sure that Swindon would have travelled that far for a home game though

My car had broke down on way to game. It limped to fire station about a mile from deepdale, so at half time we thought 'sod this' and went to phone box to get RAC out. The rest is history. We rode home on back of RAC lorry, Stubbs & Green equalised, we went about 22 games unbeaten and got promoted. I'm only taking part of the credit.

Was Preston before or after Chester Those two games do stand out but equally, port vale at burden 1 down and McGinlay came on to score his first for us to draw the game
