Always said kids should support their home town team, which makes me a hypocrite if I try and get them to be Bolton fans as they weren't born anywhere near it. Oldest kid doesn't really like football. Youngest does, he loves watching it on telly, plays in an U11s team and is quite good. Dragged him to several random BWFC games when my wife had plans and I had no choice - every single one over the past couple of years we lost and didn't even score. He hated it. That magic that happened when my dad took me has yet to happen for him. It's a 60 mile round trip for me to home games now. God knows how much that costs me in petrol over a season. Since we went shit, it's been more of a hassle than something I look forward to. It's not really about the football anymore, more the pints + chinwag with mickbrown in the pub before and after the game that keeps me going. Having the season ticket auto renew and by direct debit just keeps delaying the inevitable. I've got the magic bit of plastic in my wallet that gets me into home games, so I may as well still go. I would love it to be about the football again, but season after season after season that just ain't happening... Great post, we've all got our stories. There was a time when we hadnt been at Reebok long that I was starting to lose a bit of interest/passion (although I didnt miss any home games). Away games seemed so dull, eg Everton, City, Villa, Palace. And the players were so dull personality wise. At Burnden we got used to the players seeming to be "one of us", they had a connection with the fans. Even in the dark days, it felt like the players had a genuine rapport with us, eg Sutton, Savage, Thompson, Joyce, Philliskirk, then quality players like McAteer, Kelly, Gudni, McGinlay, Coyle, Sheridan. When we signed Bruno N'Gotty, I thought, he looks hero material. Great player, no rapport with the crowd whatsoever, and that's the way it went, I withdrew from feeling a part of "the team" for a while, and sat back in our shiny new stadium admiring better technical players. We started to have quality players that were just passing through. Some of them didnt acknowledge the crowd from 1 season to the next, even when scoring (Anelka etc). Add to the that the fact that a load of "fans" had appeared from nowhere, and the soul was being lost. I didnt recognise the faces around me anymore, and God there was a lack of passion, on and off the pitch. There were exceptions (Diouff, Stelios, Campo, Nolan, Gardner) but I couldnt pretend it was the same. Now I've got the passion back, I struggle to describe it but I just care more about the club than I ever have, I didnt used to appreciate what a huge community thing BWFC is and how much it means to so many people.

I was going to not get a season ticket this year for the first time in decades, because I've had enough of Parky football, but its all changed with the current situation. I also cant sit back and let the club die without doing my bit. There are thousands of fans locally, around the country, around the world that enjoy having a club to support "from afar" and take it for granted that BWFC exist whilst never having to put as much as £1 into the pot. I respect everyone's circumstance and decison but I couldnt be 1 of those until the day I that I have no interest in our results.

The difference between a couple of dozen not renewing because they can’t get their upper tier seats pretty much pays the bill for the season. And also means we can charge more for away fans, although more to follow on that point... Hotel sorted concourses yesterday and I’ll be fair and say the lass in NSL was prompt for having pints ready band and waiting. And we were able to peel off the Warrington stickers while waiting.

Not a problem as long as ale isn’t taken in view of the pitch, although bottles make it easier unless decanted. There is a higher price per unit for bottles versus draught so I suspect that is the deciding factor.

August 11, 20197 yr Went to The Massives a while ago with my brother. The bars in their concourses have a shed load of almost full pints lined up just before half time. They just top them up and hand them over. Really quick. Also some of the bars are ale/cider only so no fannying around with people wanting pies, hotdogs, etc. Much as I detest them fair play I say - they reacted to complaints from fans

They had one of those machines that dumps 8 pints into 8 glasses in about 5 seconds. Had a young lad doing that and nowt else. Queues at the bar were non-existent. Never understood why more places don’t use them
