Edinburgh about 400-500,000

Aye and they only manage say 32k home fans Across the two big clubs.

Dundee down at less than 150k and still manage 16k across the 2. Which when you compare to ourselves isn’t a bad effort really.

same as down south though they suffer from the glory hunters who support the big clubs

Think it would be fair to say Edinburgh is a different sort of story anyway given the percentage of the population that hasn’t grown up there so haven’t got loyalties to either of the local clubs.

Absolutely agree with you there. I also have as many mates who are old firm fans as all other teams combined and they are all Edinburgh born and bred.

They can fuck off, then. Just as bad as Bolton DMBs. And the rugger buggers while we’re at it.

Rugby is another issue in Edinburgh as again I’ve a whole group of friends who don’t watch any football other than a game in the pub if we are all in. But play and watch rugby religiously.

when you think of it hearts and hibs actually do alright fan wise all things considered.

Yeah that’s what I meant that the 500k doesn’t tell the full story really.

That said, as percentages of the population it would put us on an average of c18,000 which let’s be honest we’d be fucking delighted with.

Sorry yeah I was agreeing with your point mate

and was also trying to show that in reality a lot of these scottish clubs that folk see fit to mock actually punch at a higher level fan wise as a percentage of the population than we actually do.

Highest percentage in Europe pretty much every week last season in the days when we were allowed to go to football.

Wonder how that compares to the north west of England obviously not a country but population and number of clubs and attendees  to Scotland ? Would not be surprised if the north west trumped them

Dunno but don’t forget in terms of geography it’s like night and day size wise so not really a feasible comparison I wouldn’t say

Glasgow less than 600000 apparently. Only looked a few weeks back when looking at covid in scotland.

Was surprised myself.

That’s Glasgow but same as Manchester it has a greater Glasgow area which I think is about double that or summat. Still a small place in comparison to English major cities.

kinell, about a third of Scotland's population, just had a look. Does seem some variation in numbers depending on which web site you use though.

No bloody wonder we could go all day and see no body!

You’ve only seen a fraction of it mate. Go further north and it really is sparsely populated up in the highlands etc.

central belt must account for half of Scotland’s population roughly. And it’s a small fraction of the land mass.

Tough comparisons really north west is about 7 million Scotland 5.5 million . but if you say north as Liverpool Everton city and United compared to Celtic and rangers in Scotland
there are around 40 professionals clubs in Scotland and may be half that number in the north west of England but we probably have a number of non league teams that would be on a par with a lot of lower end Scottish teams

both places are hot  beds 😃

Aye. Aberdeenshire a few years back was great. Notable for some obvious housing projects on the outskirts of a couple of the smaller towns, but so much space. Can't use it all for houses though, as its needed for grain. Can't bugger up the whiske trade.
