W.cramp Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 What's the odds on Saturdays game being called off with these new restrictions being put back in place by the powers that be ? Quote

No chance of it being called off as the players are within a ‘bubble’ so theoretically aren’t affected by the locality (if indeed any of them live within Bolton) Quote

If. Foden and Greenwood. Joined the list of plenty of others and rugby stars too. Tends towards my belief that a lot of sportsmen aren't that bright. Hope I'm wrong, but I can see a number of postponements coming up as the leagues start up. Quote

Rugby players haven't been keeping to it which is why there's a stark difference, though even then games have been going ahead even with the odd positive test because of players training in smaller groups and the like. Proof was in the pudding really with how few positive tests there were during the end of the Premier League and Championship seasons, albeit with fewer social temptations at the time. Quote

Hope you're right. What concerns me is that by definition lower leagues have players who are lower paid and backed by smaller teams of staff; coaches, medical etc. Quite possibly with less absolute dedication to their profession. Whether that manifests itself in more players fucking up, who knows. Just not confident, especially with cases rising. More chance of being infected even if they are sticking to their bubbles. Quote

Shouldn't be an issue with full-time players given women's top-flight football haven't had any issues thus far Quote

Johnnyrotten Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 Nobody knows, they may as well say Easter as Christmas, it means nothing, even if they said we can go to a game on 1st Oct it could all change on 30th Sep. Nothing's changed from months ago when it was obvious we needed a vaccine before we could plan our weekends around watching BWFC again. Without that the best we can hope for is stop-start, quarter full grounds and uncertainty right upto the day before a game about whether we can go. Quote
