BLM

How come there isn't a thread for this ?

Is it because they've revealed their true colours, excuse the deliberate pun.

Folk were warned re their true intentions, but as always called racist by the naive.

Many players are still associating it with BLM as are the media.

If you ask the majority of fans what kneeling represents I’m guessing the majority will say BLM.

Even if the majority think that (which I doubt), it doesn't make it true. At this point - if you truly believe that players are kneeling in favour of people toppling statues and spraying graffiti on war memorials, you're either looking for an excuse to condemn an anti-racism campaign, or you're willfully ignorant. It's as simple as that.

That's not THE problem - it's THEIR problem. If you feel strongly enough about something to boo it in public, you should probably understand what it is first.

Millwall fans explained BEFORE last Saturday's game that they would not support their players " taking the knee" because it is a symbol of the BLM, an extremist left wing political group, not because they opposed anti-racism.

The biggest problem with "BLM" is differentiating between the slogan and the movement.

Some will always oppose it now due to linking it to the protests and the defacing of monuments etc rather than just accepting it as a slogan.

It's a shame really.

So there should be no booing tonight. I can already hear the excuses if there is.

There was no booing because ,as had already been explained to you, the problem was with their players "taking the knee ".

It seems that it is you who cannot understand....not the Millwall fans

And an incredibly considered viewpoint it was.

Well done to them, they've made it worse for their views on BLM.

The mental gymnastics people jump through. It must be exhausting.

Where? And if they did, surely they didn't suggest any player who took the knee would be doing so in favour of vandalism and graffiti? (Or Marxism for the more imaginative amongst them)

I’m not sure why people cannot accept that a section of the public have an issue with the BLM movement. As such as long as “anybody” affiliates with them or uses gestures that have been adopted by that group, some people will have an issue with it. As is their absolute right to do so.

Not aimed at Millwall in particular,  but I reckon there's a lot of people up and down the country who'd never even heard of Marxism before the summer, but now use it as a reason not to support BLM.

Ive got an issue with it. If that makes me a racist in your eyes so be it. That says more about you than it does about me.

Its the hiding behind it that sticks in the craw. So let's not.pretend (for the 100th time, this is about political views)

So I’m a racist in your opinion correct? Just so I’m sure?

Talking of defacing statues, four charged with vandalism and tipping a statue into Bristol Harbour

In steps Escobarp with his "I'm totally impartial, but..." routine

Have an issue with graffiti then, not BLM.

Its really not that difficult this stuff.

Where have I ever said I’m impartial? You’re lying again.

Now, now behave young sir - just go back over the posts, stop doing 'The Bolty'

I’m not doing an anyone. I’m asking a question that’s all?

Behave, you can get right angry very quickly.

City have a huge flag covering some of the stand that says Black Lives Matters

Appreciate we’ve talked a lot about how the PL & EFL clubs have tried to distance themselves from it but its still clear the protests are linked to the BLM movement

The BLM does have political opinions that our system is racist, if clubs and players want to be linked to that then it’s fine, it’s their decision and everyone has a right to that opinion. However they also need to respect that many people don't believe in that opinion and they should be free to voice their objection, freedom of speech as long as you don’t take it too far (abusive etc)

It feels like Millwall and their fans came to a compromise that allowed an anti racism message get across without anything divisive, such a compromise between a club, it’s players and fans is a good thing surely

I don’t believe that I’m a racist, I certainly do t think that Black Lives Don’t Matter, however I fundamentally disagree with the opinions of the BLM movement. If BWFC want to support it then fine, I’d like to think it’s within my rights to voice my disapproval if so

😁 I do.like it when you're in a combative mood.

Mental gymnastics ??? I don't think it could be made clearer for you. Millwall supporters made it clear that they would not support their players "taking the knee" because it is a symbol of a extremist left wing group.....their players "took the knee' & the supporters booed them......next game, their players did not "take the knee" & made an anti-racist message.......& the supporters clapped them.

I’m really not angry. Sat here watching great British menu. I’m just asking why it’s appropriate for somebody with such a questionable track record to start to tell me what to do?
