BLM

How come there isn't a thread for this ?

Is it because they've revealed their true colours, excuse the deliberate pun.

Folk were warned re their true intentions, but as always called racist by the naive.

Latest is both teams will link arms in a show of solidarity. Shirts to bear the kick it out logo.

Maybe an attempt to move away from blm links.

If that is the case and that’s what the clubs have agreed on moving forward then fair enough. If a players  then starts to kneel and give the clenched fist then surely questions should be asked of them?

Maybe the fans will say boo-urns instead?

There will still be players who will also choose to kneel.

.. and they'll be booed.

It's all very sad.

Marvin Sordell racism: Millwall fans shamed again by 'Sordell is a c***' banner | Daily Mail Online

Sordell took to Twitter after the Millwall match last month to claim himself and team-mates Lee Chung-young, Darren Pratley and Benik Afobe were subjected to racist taunts.

It tells the story of Sordell playing the race card after getting into a row with a 13 year old.  The kid admitted calling Sordell "Nemo" but denied any racism, & nobody, no police, stewards or other players heard this alleged racism.

At the next meeting, Millwall fans produced a banner calling Sordell a cunt.

Ian Evatt should sign midfielder Bobby Burns from his former club - the lad is out on loan at Glentoran atm so out of favour - probably get him for buttons.

That way we can avoid embarrassment if any of our numpties act up by claiming they were actually shouting "Boo-urns! Boo-urns!" to welcome and encourage our new signing.

That just shows them to be horrible cunts rather than racist cunts IMO.

They're probably proud of that.

I laughed. I am bad.

Why? Do clenched fists scare you?

BLM scum...

FFS, some on this thread need to give their heads a wobble.

Surely if a way of carrying on the campaign that embraces more people that is a good thing ?

Because if clubs take the linked armed stance it’s likely because they agree with many that kneeling and the fist is associated with BLM. I thought that would be pretty obvious. Obviously not.

If the relevant authorities decide to try to completely distance themselves from BLM in order to bring more people on board / offend less people then its surely a good thing (especially seen as footballers are saying they aren't supporting the BLM movement anyway)

If however then certain footballers decide they aren't happy with that and break rank to go above and beyond a simple racism message in order to support the BLM movement then that would certainly been seen as a politically motivated move and would invite criticism (rightly so)

I'd not want to see any political slogan supported officially at a football match, Take back control, Black Lives Matter, get BREXIT done etc etc

We’ve never had an issue with booing anti racism events such as kick it out

Plenty people in this country will have been very unhappy with the BLM protests this summer as they fundamentally disagree with a lot of the messaging

Having protests at football games that on the face of it seem to support the BLM movement incite those opposing opinions

If it’s made absolutely clear that the protests are in no way supportive of the BLM movement then I honestly believe the opposition to the protests goes away

The media need to give that clarity

Listen, I do get that the optics for BLM haven't played well with many and the anger at not being able to disagree with tactics whilst also opposing racism. Its all got caught in a horrible mess, and that isn't great as we then lurch from one side to the other without understanding some of the issues at play. However, we must also recognise that for some booing taking the knee is not about a slight of a political movement, its much more than that and so we get pretty nasty opinions poking through the surface such as condemning black power or all black movements. That isn't good, and funnily enough comes from the same people time after time. Ot doesn't take a genius to work out the connections. Hiding behind Marxism or some other such nonsense is pretty poor.

Again, the issue with BLM is..... and don't say Marxism, please.....

Unlike the other two political issues you mention, I think we can all get behind the idea that unlawful killing and racism are bad things. Well, you would hope.

Obviously you slept through the summer

Do you think unlawful killings and racism are linked or are you just deluded.

Of course

However the BLM movement in the summer were protesting about much more than an unlawful killing. Certainly in the UK, where nobody was killed unlawfully it was predominantly around Systemic Racism (I don't think I heard racial abuse at football get mentioned at all). The point around the UK being systemically racists is a subjective one and is highly political as its inferring that our education, healthcare, welfare etc are all racist by nature. For that reason I see BLM as political as the other slogans that I have mentioned

To be fair back in 2016 we had very similar divisions based on the 'system being broke' taking immigration policy out of hands and migrants stealing jobs etc. It ended up with a large anti establishment movement that voted us out of the EU. Again I don't think that would have been suitable for a sporting protest, any political movement that's purpose is to say the countries system inst working should be kept away from sport as its just too divisive

Lets have movement that brings people together around anti racism with no grey areas of subjective politics

Rioting, throwing statues in canals, looting shops, making policeman kneel infront of them.

Would you like anymore?

Attacking people of all races who happened to be socialising together, abusing other black people for a differing approach.

Attacking the Cenotaph & the Churchill statue, & injuring 27 policemen in what their BBC apologists called a "largely peaceful " march.
