It's that match v Darlington (5/11/86?). What it would have looked like if everyone who claims to have been there, really was.

Now Jim, when I mentioned "rattle" you immediately thought of "rattler" a colloquial name for a train, and suggested Crewe Alexandra, a place inextricably linked to trains. Well it was a good idea but

Yes, Gartside had a 'Fax and we signed Phil Brown from Halifax and the brown is, of course, worth 4pts in snooker.

Undies, I think you're slipping. It's plain old "Undies" from now on and "Ted Traf". Need to up your game old cockers!

Ted Undies might make a tenuous link to Phil Gartside or 4 points.

Tremendous Ted Traf

If you guess who the player is you'll definitely get the ground.

I've since done an image search on Clough and a young Clough didn't have hair like that, but more when he was a manager

Agree on his hair

Seemed thicker when managing!

And i dont think its mariner either

It sounds like its somebody who is known for just one club, too

This player is famous for one thing. Not of my generation but some on here may have seen this famous thing happen. He is a one club man so that will point you to the ground. Who is he?

Superb Ted Undies clues

Not a view of the ground that is commonly seen, only worked it out from the clues

Players initials are absolutely nuts

👍

The Valley, Charlton. It is Keith Peacock (KP), the first ever sub, though that was at Burnden.

Top row, far right at BP.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen a picture of the ‘old’ Valley to include that side of the ground!

Yes, The Valley. Kieth Peacock, the first FL sub. Strangely enough he came on for their Keeper.

@MancWanderer well done on figuring it out on the clues. But I think you may have missed my overuse of the word, who.

Well Brian and Nora, you successfully picked up on my mention of "Who" and suggested Wayne Entwistle as he shares a surname with one of the band, and that after playing 8 games for Bolton he finished off playing 2 for Hartlepool. So you went for the Victoria Ground. Well it was a good guess; but which other footballer shared one of the band's surnames? Yes, it was Andy Townsend. And where did he start his career? Yes, I see you nodding now Brian - it was at Welling as a computer operator while living in Greenwich. And what was his local Football League team? Yes, of course it was Charlton.

Hard luck, here's a Dusty Bin miniature to take back to your recently flooded sheltered accommodation in Kegworth, and here's what you could have won (might have come in handy after those floods eh Nora - stop crying, look Dusty will put a smile back on your face)
