Gallagher Hill?

What in heavens name is that?

it's just people having a bit of fun

beats sitting on the internet interacting with loons all day every day

Posted

anyway, the buzz about the place for the last 2 weeks has been sensational, I can't remember such buzz for a bunch of gigs

no band on the planet could get close to what's happening now IMO

no stupid flags or political messages, just people having fun

anyway, any spares for london, would love to go again

My lad and his mates went to 'Gallagher Hill' on Saturday and he said it was a brilliant night. No aggro, sound was ace and lets be honest, Oasis aren't exactly a visual treat so job done.

Like LH says, like them or not, no musical act in my lifetime has created this level of interest and probably revenue on this scale.

They're massive.

So are Coldplay and U2.

Correct. What's your point?

I'm not saying Noel Gallagher is the second coming of Beethoven, simply that what they've achieved here is exceptional in music terms.

Both behind oasis tho

Depends what the criteria is

Certainly not sales or ability to sell out tours several times over

Don't get my wrong I'll take oasis any day over them two and neither would create a buzz like oasis did this last few weeks

But in most respects they're both "bigger" bands the world over

I dunno, I think culturally this is a triumph of remembered and (unremebered) nostalgia at a time when things arent that great. No one is mentioning the puddle piss albums of the early 2000s like Dig Your Own Hole when they weren't selling huge amounts and struggling to keep relevant.

Bit of time away, loads of 20 odd year olds who have never seen them and bingo - bucket hat billionaires.

Don't get me wrong Definitely Maybe was a great album and for about 18 months they were fantastically exciting as a riposte to grunge and America and had some great songs like Columbia and Slide Away or Up In The Sky.

They lost me around Some Might Say, that sort of plodding stuff that just seems to linger around like a fart in a lift. Then that D'yknow What I Mean was just it. A Northern Soul by the Verve just seem to replace that inventive Northern rock music - but then Ashcroft lost the super talented members of his band and started writing Lucky Man! Pah - don't put your life in the hands of a rock n roll band or something as a wise man once said 😁

Regret not going to the hill, but wouldn’t have been the same. Seriously tempted to go to New York and kill two birds with one stone… what’s it like for resale over there; just the same?

Even worse I imagine. Starting prices were much higher but not sure if there’s as much demand.

You won’t get a beer for less than $20 either

No surprise oasis fans have always enjoyed smashing up the joint after the show.

I was surprised to see this crop up as we didn't see even a hint of trouble, loads of people with young kids and stuff there just enjoying the night.

Always some bellends about that act up.

Off to Truckfest tomorrow.

Be interesting to see how new bands measure up to the old hands bought in to headline.

Wunderhorse and Fat Dog the picks there

Front standing for me at Wembley sat.

So happy I avoided scum central at Heaton park, hell hole.

Aye, I didn't bother trying for Heaton park for the same reasons

Went for Edinburgh instead

Got to front of queue and into the buying room in about 30 mins

Still no luck though

I was lucky enough to get pre-sale links, was around number 92 in the queue for Wembley, and 400 for Cardiff.
