The M6.

Has to be the most depressing, accident ridde, piece of shit motorway in the whole of Great Britain if not Europe.

3 times since Friday its been complete gridlock between Broughton and Knutsford.

Same every fucking week.

On the bright side, M6 north of the M55 is wonderful.

  • Absolutely. I said at the time some bugger has done a cost analysis of deaths against movement of traffic and judged extra folk dying is a price worth paying. Fucking stinks.

20/20 but it was good to test them out.

I did that a few weeks back after a crash on M6 and it wasn't good. Those roads are narrow and were too busy. It took bloody ages and the motorway was still open then (down to one lane) so Christ knows what they would have been like.

Best to just avoid if possible. I bet those who live anywhere near the A6 between Preston and Carnforth are having a right mare getting about.

Fair enough. Traf can't avoid it if he wants to come down to the game.

Maybe canoe down the effluent coast and disembark at Preston!

I know it's a trek, but what about the back roads: trough of Bowland etc down past Clitheroe area?

Done it once or twice, but it might at least keep moving.

We often come home that way if the weather's good via Dunsop Bridge & Clitheroe.

got to drive to guildford sat for the one of the  guildford whites 50th, dreading the thought of the m6 already, m42 has always been shite, the m25 is just always busy

Sounds like it was absolute hell over the weekend.

Heard stories of 10 hours to get from Lancaster to Bolton.

Cancelled closures this weekend for funeral. Sounds like a right shit show

I drove back on Sunday, was busier than expected but no more so than a usual Sunday afternoon really. Took about 4 1/2 to get to south london.

M25 was clearish, M6 clear as a bell (using the toll) Only time I stopped really was around the Trafford centre.

Personally I'd be more concerned about going to Guildford (which I've got to.do on tuesday) hate the place with a passion.

Drove over there this afternoon, weather was dogshit and still people were driving like pricks.

saw a Jag spin on the M61 because the driver thought his tyres were better than everyone else’s.

I went up to Middlebrook this afternoon and there wasn’t a prayer I was going anywhere near the motorway in the monsoon.

Believe the driver has survived at Thelwall which is just incredible. Proper horror movie stuff, that.

He’s lucky it wasn’t directly over the canal where he went off or he’d not have survived

Have to assume he was either in the outside lane, which would be a bit daft, or he’s come across a few lanes and it’s a miracle nobody else has gone down with him.

I was once remarkably fortunate to finish up in the same place.

There were works going on, and three lanes down to one.

Late at night, I was in the inside, when a fucking lorry came right across from the outside and smacked into the side of my car. Don't know if the driver had somehow missed the cones, or was trying to get past before it became a single lane.

Nearly squished into the barrier and potentially worse.

Always a bit nervous now over bridges; strangely Barton Bridge being the worst.
