This England

No, not the film series. England now. Obviously spent some time there recently and got around quite a bit.

Hadn't heard of GB News but advice whilst there has me watching it now. Not afraid to air the issues the pathetic BBC and ITV news programmes won't touch in the fashion of northern Police services not wanting to do anything about grooming gangs.

WTF are the arabic squiggle advertising hoardings doing on the M62? "There is but one God, Allah and.....................blah, blah, fucking blah" Can you imagine erecting similar in Iran or Islamabad "There is but one God, the father of Jesus Christ......". Hung, drawn and quartered within the hour.

A once proud nation reduced to this type of fawning subservience. Met enough people and talked enough to know that national pride is still well and truly alive. Now just need leaders with the steadfast determination to correct this type of barely believable outrage (not faux in any way).

No doubt this will awaken the woke.

What a load of shite. The thick cunts do not realise they are making things worse not better. They are highlighting differences the numbskulls.

BBC1 this morning on the latest moonshot. '....with the aim of landing the first female and first person of colour on the moon'.

Now I don't know about you but, as they wheeled out the crew it would genuinely not cross my mind whatever the make up of the crew was - gender, race etc. It's dicks who highlight these things who continue to feed the fire.

Like the idiots who meddled on the African continent; brought down Gaddafi and Hussein etc. - well meaning but misguided fools.

Its been interesting reading this thread over the weekend, I'm sure many feel like Bolty sadly and don't really understand any nuance. Its all about aligning with a very polerised position and sticking with it.

If you shut it down or dimiss it as the rantings of a silly old duffer it's easier for Bolty entrench into his position, switch off the news, ignore those who don't agree and claim that the tide of stupidity is rising aganist him.

This point on the crew of the Artemis is a good example. Bolty claims that to ignore the ethnicity of the crew is the path to equality, and that by not doing it's a form of 'white guilt' of which isn't needed. Neither of which is the real issue.

Its about Bolty feeling as though he himself as nothing to apologise for, without recognising struggles others have been through to get themselves into a position of which access was previously denied.

NASA is actually a really decent and practical example of this. The book and film Hidden Figures shows the true story of three black women astrophysicists who work at NASA and the obstacles they are faced with to get their talent recongised and the huge contribution they made to John Glen's fight and the barriers they had to overcome to work in STEM sectors.

So when it is highlighted that one of the aims of the Artemis programme is to insure a long term Moon-based project that is broader and more inclusive than Apollo, that is worthy of note so that those who are now working towards careers in STEM subjects don't feel that its an avenue that might be cut off from them as its traditionally been the domain of men.

A bit of time, a bit of thought, please. No one is trying to shut down conversations, right wrongs or 'virtue signal', and its important that when folk come out with statements like Bolty's that they are not challenged, but explained as to why it is important that progress is recognised.

All the time that some people believe the original moon shot of Neil Armstrong & them lot was a hoax and just a film set has got me thinking.

If they could do that 50 years ago with a bit of Meccano and an old Chevy V8, how come they are struggling now eh?

Didn't say it was.

Its certainly a massive one mind.

25,000 extra people we have to feed and water is pretty expensive. Plus all that well spent money we give the French.

Id rather we spent all that money on keeping businesses going through this winter and keeping old grannies warm tbh.

Especially when 90% are Albanian blokes.

Have you got a link? :D

Political will, it was a top priority of the American government to make sure the Russian's weren't the first on the moon.

It sucked up billions and billions, at the time there was protests as money was being spent on this rather than domestic issues and it was a genuine concern.

This is about establishing a longer term moon based project and have a base there, rather than just collecting some rocks, so it more of a science rather than engineering mission.

Put simply, we went because we decided to, we've not been back yet because we haven't wanted to.

That's what a lifetime of trifle will do for you.

The moon was sold to private investors years ago.

It may have an American flag on it, but it belongs to a conglomerate of PLC’s.

There were 6 manned Moon landings between 1969 and 1972. Always found it strange how there's a popular misconception that we only went once.

We should send the boats there.

There is clearly an untapped market for Cocaine, Car washes and child prostitution up there.

But as the pub landlord said, and I paraphrase, what's the fucking point? No bugger to hand it back to once we're done with it and nothing to be gained in terms of spicy food and Olympic quality athletes

Well we've already started using it as a dump - hundreds of wet wipes and packets of shit and piss are already up there.

Along with a now bleached white flag, and a nice statue to fallen astronaughts that looks like someone left a happy meal toy up there.

Hidden Figures is a great film. BUT one was an Engineer, One was an IT supervisor and the other a mathematician. Do not think they were all Astro Physicists.

Pints of Carling, Farage on the wall, think lad on left drinking what might be Kronnenburg but has turned his glass round to avoid being a traitor.

Well I do (without googling). Surely a large proportion of Brits would know who Tim Peake is?

On your serious question, 'I'm going to the moon!' - yes. Everything else is peripheral and a product of white male guilt complexes.

So you do see that having someone who is not  a white male would help engage with wider groups ?
The Tim Peake question was purely to show how having someone 'like us' involved increases engagement. Whereas the other guy on the same mission is virtually unheard of in the UK.

Fair enough - I've got some great merch from it as my old company did the PR.

Wouldn't surprise me if that bar was in Benidorm or some other immigrant ridden shithole on the Spanish coast
