Think in his The Athletic interview a few days ago, Stephenson said he saw himself as right back long term. If that's the case let's hope he's good one. Hard to believe at this stage of the window (day 1) we would be signing players the manager wasn't 100% sure about.

If people actually listened to what was being said by Fergal and the club, that would help as well. This phase of our transfer activity is about picking up the out of contract players that are on the market e.g. Davies and Wilson. Then we move on to negotiating for players who command a fee and then signing loan platyers. That's not to say all that happens in a linear fashion/sequentially, but that's the broad timing. On fee transfers most managers, etc are on holiday including ours presumably. Hundreds of players are also at the World cup and probably every agent, the rest are on holiday. Most teams want to keep players available for loan through pre season just in case they don't get their main targets. We all need to be patient, even though it's frustrating. But let's keep gossiping about it otherwise we will all get bored 😄.

In his interview Fergal this week made a couple of points about timing. First that World Cup years we're historically very slow for the transfer market and secondly that he hoped we would have 4 or 5 in by the start of pre-season. I'm guessing players are back in training early July.

It really was impressive. But there has been an equally big upturn in making lots of noise/singing particularly at away games this last few seasons. "We are the one and only Wanderers" is a bit unimaginative but the continuous signing of it at the start of the second half for a number of minutes must spur the team on and a number of opposition fans forums have commented positively on the amount of noise we make. We need more of this sort of thing to carry us through this coming season.

May be unrealistic, but I'm looking for strikers on the edge of Premier teams squads to come on loan not solid L1 or borderline Champ players like Nombe. Somebody like Kenny (if not him) who runs into channels and gives us a different option and knows where the back of the net is. We've got our big target man in Dalby. We are also allowed 4 overseas players next year. Not guaranteed success e.g. Shoen but Fergal obviously has links in Europe.

Both no nonsense type of players. Just what we needed at the time. You would want them alongside you in the trenches.
