  1. Didn't and wouldn't watch it esp with that tosser Lineker on it - can't stand him. As for Zara Phillips, I knew she was part of the royal family, didn't know she did any sport though! Daft show and pretty daft award most of the time, as for Walcott!!! WTF has he done?
  2. Far from it and even older tomorrow I rarely listen/listened to music, having a Duran Duran/Wham loving youngersister scared me off (although the Angelic Upstarts easily drowned her crap out)
  3. I stay clear of any works do (unless its the girls in the office I work with as they are a laugh), come on, I have to work with these coonts why the fook would I socialise with them? For some reason that upset some when I told them
  4. Jack_Daw replied to a post in a topic in Terrace Talk - 'Classics'

  8. Well said that man or woman, I won't be listening to the lady in the veil or that old bint from the Germanic/Greek immigrant family either I'll likely be asleep And the tree etc in my eyes still predates Christianity Lets say we are all right and can all do what we like unless we harm others etc. Of course if those others are Hammers fans And we better not lose Sat as that would ruin my birthday
  9. Sorry Big Girl, Crawley White was correct...almost. The Christmas tree is derived from several solstice traditions. The Romans decked their halls with garlands of laurel and placed candles in live trees to decorate for the celebration of Saturnalia. In Scandinavia during the winter months, the Sun would disappear for great lengths of time. After thirty-five of such dark days, scouts would be dispatched to the mountain tops to await the return of this life-giving heavenly body. When the first light was espied, the scouts would hurry back to their villages bearing the good news. In celebration, a great festival would be held, called the Yuletide, and a special feast would be served around a fire burning with the Yule log, the log was the centre of the trunk of a tree that was dragged to a large fireplace where it was supposed to burn for twelve days. From this comes the twelve days of Christmas. In some areas, people would tie apples to the branches of trees as a reminder that Spring and Summer would eventually return. The evergreen tree was the special plant of their sun god, Baldor, mistletoe was a special plant to Druids. Anyway I thought it was really about argueing with relatives, getting pissed off with people telling you to be merry and crap like that, only person to almost get it right was that Scrooge fella but he weakened! Off to dig the pit for bloody carol singers!
  10. Actually a lot of Christmas has nowt to do with Christianity and some Christian groups still refuse to celebrate it as its a Pagan festival. As for Channel 4s publicity gimmick this year, like every other one they have done I won't be watching it, who does? Don't watch the other one either.
