Agree with that. I think 3 at the back would suit that, as it allows Johnston and Toal to mop up, if Forino focusses on Wootton. Also allows Johnston to play a little further to the left, so less room in behind him.

The concern I have with 4 at the back is against a striker who can peel off Johnston and find the acres of room that are in behind him and Conway (who ventures upfield). It’s happened too many times and it did against Plymouth (Bonham made a good save). Obviously there are also issues with 3 at the back, but I’d be looking at the best way to manage Wootton, as he’s a decent striker at this level.

It is odd, but it’s not surprising. The people who take that view tend to think they know it all, but actually they show themselves up as understanding very little. Maybe that’s why - if you can’t comprehend the complexity, just pick a side and ignore the rest. Tribe mentality.
