  1. I’ll follow up with a review of our poor form at Pride Park.
  2. Unbelievable performance.
  3. Gayle again. Good signing for them.
  4. Pompey don’t half get some penalties. Another in 1st half injury time.

As for Toal / Forrester, I’d not be having them up there. Collins, Bod and Jerome need to step up and show why they’re paid to be at this club. The first two in particular should be good enough to hold their own against Oxford and Derby. Then hopefully have Dion back for the rest.
  7. Moved to a more relevant thread.
  8. What’s the score at the moment? Isreal 2-1 Hamas? Innocent men, women and children -25,000.

    Charlton (H)

Bang average / goal of the month.
  10. Guardian has me £1,3010 better off and Mrs Me £1,300 better off a year. Sky reckons due to tax band stagnation I’m only £40 better off a year. I guess that’s better than nothing - a ticket to an away game or a reach around from @Big E.
  11. Depends if you declare it and pay your MAD MAX.
  12. Don’t tell Lawrence Fox or Matt Le Tissier.
  13. Saw Dan at Cambridge. RIP Garrp.
  14. Indeed, I think it’s limited to £754. Also, the fact that the Conservatives continue to freeze the income tax bands rather than increase them in line with inflation will probably cost you much more than that saving. Winners and losers.
  15. One report I heard yesterday said anyone earning less than £26k would be worse off under the budget. That’s 1/3 of workers and likely the 1/3 that need it most.
  16. It’s excruciating this. You can’t judge a player’s ability by an arbitrary measure of where he fits in our starting line up. Maghoma would be first choice midfielder in half the teams in this league and by that reckoning he’d be the best midfielder at a league 1 club. I judge his ability on his performances and last night he played really well when he came on. Much better than Dempsey did. His assist for Collins at the weekend was sublime. He showed that he is certainly not bang average. I’m going to have to check out of this back-and-forth because there is no reasoning with your twisted logic.
  17. Given that Evatt has him starting most games, by your logic Maghoma can’t be bang average.
  18. Right, so actually it’s not about consistency or performance level, it’s about if the manager picks you or not.
  19. Coleman - started slowly after Baxter’s injury and had a few mishaps in his first couple of games. Really improved last few matches. Makes him bang average. Dacres Cogley - unconvinced by his last few games, despite some fantastic performances earlier in the year. Makes him bang average. Jones is generally solid and puts in a shift, but can be frail defensively. Prone to the odd mistake eg red card earlier in the year. Makes him average. Iredale has been hit and miss. Games like Wigan (h) show his inconsistency - makes him bang average. Williams went through a tough patch before his injury. Not consistent enough with his defending. Makes him bang average. Morley, Sheehan - no consistency, hence they’re not regular starters. Bang average. Bod plays great off the bench but can’t take his chances when starting. No consistency. Bang average. Collins had some good moments in the last couple of games, but first few matches he wasn’t at the races. Bang average. Dion - Top scorer with 17, but had a few dodgy performances before his injury. Must be bang average.
  20. It was nice to see him mix it up. If a team does nothing but play long ball, you can defend against it by doubling up on target men. If a team does nothing but tippy tapping football, you pack the midfield and press high or you go into a low block and leave them to it. If they play long balls and passing football, you can’t double up in defence and pack the midfield. You leave gaps that can be exploited.
  21. No world beater, which is why he’s in league one and not starting for Brentford. Today he played well when he came on. Linked play well, energetic, calm in possession, fantastic run for the 1 on 1 and was unlucky with 2 cleared off the line (second looked like a possible handball). Showed exactly why he needs to start ahead of Dempsey.
  22. Swap Victor for Dion when the latter is fit (hopefully Saturday).
  23. Have to agree. When teams play a low block we can’t break them down around the box. Yet when we play against teams we can get in behind, we can’t seem to find the right pass to make the most of the opportunity.
