I've only watched 1 of the sick vids and that was enough. My point is that is that there are horrible things in the world and people should properly be aware what goes on. They may then be a bit tougher in how they view things in this country and not allow hate preachers and so on hiding behind prejudice etc.

As a general thing rather than so much with this episode, I think sick videos show the evil which human beings are capable of. Whilst upsetting, they show the darker side of life which people should be aware of and they may then not be so tolerant of the way some things are allowed to develop in this country/ wider world, rather than avoiding nipping things in the bud because they can't in case they offend someone.

I think the days of the council being a cushy number are way behind us except for a certain elite who will cost too much to get rid of and gradually retire anyway on their gold plated pensions. Off topic but the teaching profession winds me up. As far as I'm concerned it traditionally was a profession which wasn't the best paid but the long holidays and excellent pensions made up for it. Teachers entered the profession knowing this but over the last 20 years salaries have spiralled and they still moan. I wonder if there's going to be a teachers pension time bomb which will wreck the country further when the now inflated final salary schemes need paying for. Hit me with the abuse teachers !!!!!

They've been done several times in my wife's area. If they didn't have to baby sit the increasing population of thick and lazy underclass who sapp resources and show no respect for anything and anyone whilst contributing nothing to society except litter, vandalism, minor crime etc they may be able to just about manage but I think 70% of the country is probably beyond the point of no return.

My wife is quite senior in a north west council and was on strike today against her wishes. Last time they striked she walked through the picket line and took all sorts of shit and some of the shouters were her own staff. It then took months to get them back on her side to work properly (can't just fire awkward council staff easily). She said never again so had the day off unpaid. Being a Tory boy I'm against striking but quizzed her a bit on it all and she reckons her department staff numbers have been halved over the last 10 years whilst the work load has increased. She also hasn't had a cost of living pay rise for 6 years. The staff who already worked hard are at breaking point with 2 off on stress leave (genuine not bullshit) whilst the lazy ones with their spare capacity are now genuinely working hard. She accepts that there was lots of waste but the cuts have gone much further (they got rid of everything they sensibly could voluntarily on the first round of cuts years ago) and she's starting to struggle for motivation and for the first time I've heard her talk of walking. There's another round of cuts due so will be interesting to see what happens as they've already trimmed all the fat they can and can barely manage the legal requirement of essential services. She says there's a bad feeling towards bin men within the council as they take the piss but have a bit of power. I also know a teacher who's just quit the profession and is returning to the private sector. Again, she was someone who worked hard already and has been pushed and pushed when she was already working at full capacity. Made me think a bit.

Thought it was my 4 am piss up on Friday night - itchy as fuck yesterday and daren't comment on it in front of the mrs in expectation for "what do you expect getting in at that time". Now I know !

I went to benidorm 3 weeks ago and turned up a day early (drove from a different part of spain and cocked dates up). Dick ! Luckily hotel had room available for extra night.

Been 4 times now. Always organise own flights and hotel separately and get taxis to avoid driving all round the place dropping other people off but it costs more. If there's the numbers you can book a small coach exclusively. I find 6am flight out and early afternoon coming back works best. Benidorm has something for everyone and is a belting place. Stag dos should stay near the strip and hotel orange is in a cracking spot for that sort of do. Gets a bit much after a while but perfect for a proper jolly boys. 10 of us stayed there and all had our own rooms which worked well. 3 night minimum stay in that hotel iirc but I think 2 nights is enough in benidorm for me these days as I tire of it after a while. Always knock a star off the hotel ratings in spain so a 2 star at a tenner a night will be a fucking shit hole. I go for 4 star as I'm a hotel snob but you need to cater for different budgets on stag dos and orange is a good compromise. Gets a bit rough at night on the strip but not too bad. Watch out for pick pockets so don't carry too much cash, don't leave mobiles on tables and don't take cards out. Usual common sense crap really. Dust poor quality apparantely and unsure about brass but I'm sure it's there if U want it. The beach front bars are good during the day especially the tiki bar. The old town is good for a bit of culture and tapas but split into groups if you're getting rowdy as it's not really the right place. No point in going on the other side of the head land. My perfect day in benidorm would be beach bars during day, old town early evening then knob end strip 10 onwards.

I went to Albufeira about 10 years ago out if season playing golf so a different sort of holiday but I remember that stone steak place ! They also had sword kebabs - a much more impressive version of the things they serve at oust house in Manc. Thanks for the detail and widness - you've sold it to me !
