  1. OK, you clearly know better than the whole process involving independent, powerful scrutiny bodies.
  2. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/energy/energy-supply/get-help-paying-your-bills/grants-and-benefits-to-help-you-pay-your-energy-bills/ Looking at this briefly, it is likely that those who are genuinely the worst off will have some level of protection. It is likely to impact most heavily on those who have low incomes, but high enough not to qualify for benefits.
  3. Except we can't. By the time that sort of change came in, the gas situation would likely be a distant memory.
  4. https://www.gov.uk/government/speeches/european-motor-insurance-directive-removal-of-vnuk-from-uk-law Fascinating little bit of legislation just done. Quite complex in its history, but the upshot is that we've all just been saved an increase on each of our motor insurance premiums of around £50.
  5. No doubt. For those oligarchs who are "anti" putin I'm sure there will be less desire to stop them and end up pushing their money elsewhere.
  6. L “All donations are properly and transparently declared to the Electoral Commission, published by them, and comply fully with the law. It would be wrong to suggest malign motive on behalf of individuals simply because of the country of their birth.” That's the official response to that. From an article in the guardian. Murky money movements for sure, but all donations to all parties (above a certain figure iirc) are scrutinised.
  7. The legislation is in place to sort this, but it isn't used frequently enough. Only a handful of individuals have been prosecuted using it. Need to toughen up.
  8. See above. Privatisation of energy companies was done some time ago in order to make the market more competitive. Whether that works is a separate debate. He only chooses to criticise it though, without exploring the reasons behind it and the benefits of it. His argument is one sided and incomplete. Therein is the issue purely reading one person's view of things on twitter.
  9. Aye, I read them. We have a number of gas pipelines with another big one on its way. Not all are two way (iirc). It's all part of the network throughout the continent. As you know, we have limited storage capacity here, so if that's full, and we have production capacity available why not put it into the system. Its how demand is met according to need at the time. The Russians are supplying the contracted gas, but not topping up with extra when demand is high, so Europe needs to get it from elsewhere. Presumably that's why exports are a bit higher (as the tweets show) so as to compensate. There may well be a bigger debate about how the energy market is managed- seems many mps are unhappy with it- but that's a separate argument. For now companies produce the stuff and it can go into the "mix".
  10. Hmm. Doesn't sound like an alternative to Dempsey, who himself says he is a box to box player.
  11. One of the comments from the Bentley chap (or maybe someone else) was around the longer life expected with evs and the ability to upgrade them according to technology increases. Fewer things to go wrong, and upgraded batteries/motors to improve range, power, efficiency and lower costs, whilst still keeping the same vehicle. A point that is made in certain reports etc but seems largely lost in the medie. The infrastructure is of course still problematic, but that will be rectified as more and more companies fancy a piece of the action and the money. I can see a point where the government might need legislation to cap some of the prices public chargers charge, but that might also.be sorted by market forces.
  12. Gas flows in different directions according to demand. If we "kept" all ours then other nations followed suit, we'd be stuffed being a net importer. The series of tweets is from someone who either doesn't appreciate how it works, or someone who does but fancies a shit stir anyway.
  13. I've explained it all previously, feel free to find it. Or do some genuine research and not list one case of a vehicle in flames in Germany. Unfortunately the media love to whip things up out of proportion and present "facts" in a completely disingenuous way. People then believe it. Fortunately the top man at Bentley put one such reporter right, live on air yesterday morning. No doubt you didn't see it.
  14. Did a piece about him on the bbc. Remarkable the comedians that he wrote for.
  15. Those that want to shout about it on their t shirts.
  16. Look the the left of the picture. Gin and a guitar. A cunt.
  17. https://images.app.goo.gl/vXhVAypFzND7nJEs7 At least someone offers an alternative .
  18. There'll be no snowflakes soon when the temperature rises, and the gammon will be darker, almost black.
  19. Aye, thought for a minute some ordnance had gone off!
  20. Like I said- all ifs and buts. No one knows what he'd have done. Total supposition, and all a bit pointless. History is littered with similar stories and no doubt for all clubs. What if we'd signed Drogba? General opinion on here at the time was that our chairmen did the right thing by not busting the bank and overspending. Had we done who knows what would have happened, but its of no consequence.
