If we finish 3rd
@Zico‘s post has reminded me that it was actually the Forest game when I went on and not Peterborough.

Wycombe Wanderers (H)
Yeah I suppose it would technically put it further in to our hands as we can take points off Cardiff so happy to go along with that. Basically just want them to avoid a draw.

New Playoff Format
I’ve done the long-winded play offs in Scotland and bloody hell it’s a right pain in the arse with so many extra games to pay for and sort with work etc at such short notice

Significant games you only partially remember
I felt sure there were a few newspaper articles online about hundreds of Bolton fans having tickets in the Blackburn end for the 95/96 game but can’t find anything now

In and drinking. Only been in the car previously

If we finish 3rd
It was never even a thought for so long, but it felt completely natural against Peterborough (only time I’ve been on) and since then everything has become a lot more feral. And you can’t mention the Barnsley play off pitch invasion without a thought back to the one at Accrington in the EFL Trophy semi 🙈😆

Wycombe Wanderers (H)
Not often I’m completely confident going in to a game but I’ve got faith we’re going to fly with this one. Cardiff to beat Lincoln and all of a sudden 7 points doesn’t look insurmountable.

Todays Games
Being sat in the ground while that was ongoing was soul destroying. Spurs fans started booing how long it was taking and then of course cheered when it was disallowed 🙄 Was sat on row 19 and the press box starts on row 20. Mexican guy commentating behind us tapped me on the shoulder and asked what the Palace fans were chanting. Never thought I’d hear a Spanish translation for “say hello to Millwall” 😁

Stockport Mainly because I don’t want to play them at Wembley

And being half a foot too small to save the overhead kick against Watford at Wembley. On a similar theme, we noticed Exeter’s keeper was a proper short arse yesterday. It might seem an odd thing to say after conceding five, but he had a really good game and would probably be playing further up the leagues if only he was taller.

Tonight with Trevor McDonald. Dave Bassett in the other dugout. Not a clue why no footage exists, wish I’d kept my VCR recording of it.

If teams are pressing ridiculously high, just as Blackpool were at that point, then just stick your foot through it. I’m amazed anything else goes through a goalkeeper’s mind at that point.

I’ve stuck a tenner on us with exactly that hope (although a little surprised that we weren’t odds on)

Some great examples in that Allardyce promotion team. Would throw in Colin Hendry, too. He had a huge influence in our post-Christmas form. Todd’s Championship team had a good few as well. Taggart, Fairclough, even Bergsson didn’t get the praise he deserved. Not many fit the bill in recent years, and maybe that’s part of the problem.

Bloomin’ lovely place is Exeter, it has to be said. Tip for anyone visiting the Ship tomorrow, download the Greene King app and it’s £3 for a Peroni For once the trains timed perfectly on the way down and was an absolute doddle. That song scans about as well as the Wanderers Karma Chameleon 😁

I wouldn’t say McAtee had been playing as a 10, more as whatever the fuckery Football Manager would call a second striker who isn’t necessarily quite as far forward as Dalby, but further forward than any of the other experiments have played. And tbf that was the type of combination that served us so well at Wimbledon etc The thing that disappointed me most about our forward play against Blackpool was that Dempsey used to thrive on being a late arrival in the box, not dissimilar to Kevin Nolan, but he was nowhere to be seen for those chances last week.

I’d like to think of myself as more of a Home Bargains Pep who will never stop questioning trying to play with a 10 despite, on the evidence of the last 12 months, not having anyone in the entire squad capable of doing it.
