  2. Didn't make the game, set off from Leeds in sunshine and no snow, sat on M62 for 2 hours in blizzard with snow covering motorway. turned round at Saddleworth at 12.00 as snow up to 12 inches deep. Got back to Leeds - no snow. Gutted not to be there, pissed off with this crap weather, its snowng again in Leeds now.
  3. Not a Megson hater myself, but after 35 years of support was finding it hard seeing the life sucked out of the club I have supported since being a little boy. The position following last night was clearly untenable. If you note my post, you will note I said I have great trepidation for what lies ahead - the grass is not always greener and all of that - but at least let's give it a go and see where it takes us. I see this is an opportunity for us as supporters of BWFC to get back to where we were, all behind the team, the Reebok a place where other teams did not like to play, and us all moving in the same direction as fans, players and management. Keep the faith, COYWM
  4. Christ almighty!!! Nothing like a bit of positivity. I for one am delighted at the news, but full of trepidation for what lies ahead. Whoever is appointed - just let's get behind him, start supporting the team again and see where it takes us.
  5. 279,933 job done but took some time
  6. 200,016 first go Well pleased
  7. bit of an effort but got the Whites to the top - 1399 best score time for the X Factor - sad git that I AM
  8. Agree with everything written here, consistent with my addition to the thread last night. Well said that man - supporting 35 years and need to pinch myself where we are today compared to where a club of our size should be, and where we have been for a good 25 of those 35 years I have followed the whites. The fact that we are having a debate about an England U 21 and have players who are on the fringes of the England squad says it all for me - when the biggest international we had for years was Gerry McIlhenny (apologies for spelling) you know that relatively speaking we are living in privileged times. Cut the negativity and support the boys - yes that is all of them!!!
  9. Having read this thread and other Muamba threads, the difference in opinion amazes me. He is a young lad, lacked confidence during the season, but for me has shown enough glimpses of ability to give the lad time and see what happens. My personal thoughts are that he will come good, in fact very good and over time turn into a top player. For those who have already written him off - shame on you. It pisses me off to see supposed supporters of my club slagging players off. Not sure whether this is just from the safety of your home or whether you are the same dickheds that need to have something to moan about at the Reebok. Final thought for Sprout. You haven't a clue. Some of the posts you make are laughable re your total lack of understanding when it comes to football. From what I can see you are a knob of the highest order - and for clarity I don't even know any of the moderators on here so am not in any clique - I have just picked this opinion up from the crap you continually write. Rant over
  10. Thought at the time it was a bad foul. MOTD confirmed it. Jussi was telling the ref and lino that it was an elbow but they ignored it. Par for the game for me, I thought the ref had a shocker
  11. Worked around the North West in the early 90s and couldn't guarentee getting to night games. Away end (on the Kop) for that night - cheered with my mate when Andy Walker leapt like a salmon and fair play to those around us - congratulated us and told us we deserved the win. Away end (main stand) at Everton when we won 3-2 in the cup - sat on my hands for most of the game but jumped for joy when the winner went in. Far more hostile but we survived. Bury away many times but main memory was the play offs when Tony Philiskirk equalised and two thirds of the supposed home end went mad. Wigan away - went to the Wigan ticket office a couple of days before the game and the bloke in front of me asked for 20 tickets for the Wigan game!! The guy behind the desk looked confused asked him if he meant the Bolton game, but still gave him the tickets. Happy days
  12. A rare common theme on this thread - agreement that we do have a decent player. My view is that he is quality, he coasted through the game on Saturday, made everything he did look effortless and was head and shoulders above the other players on the pitch. Good enough for England - in my opinion yes. I posted after the West Ham game that whilst SKD terrorised Upson, Carlotn Cole hardly had a kick - no comparison in my book, Cahill is the superior defender. Value has got to be ?10m+, but have a feeling that at the time he signed there was a clause in the contract that put a minimum fee of ?10m if he left, and that Cahill was the confident in his own ability he believed that this would not restrict his ambitions. Long term contract would help, but as we know these days if the big boys come in, then there is not much you can do.
  13. That's the beauty of different opinions. Pre Christmas for me average, since then poor. He may run at people but he certainly doesn't beat them very often and have you ever seen a cross that has led to anything?? Poor player for me, and a definite need to improve this position.
  14. Agree entirely, think the lack of Rickys pace today was part of the problem. Oh and the fact that he is one of the few in the team who might do something as radical as run with the ball and beat a man!!
  15. Join the real world. Life following BWFC may not be great at the moment and the football at present is dire, but ask any Charlton, Southampton or Norwich fan at the moment what life is like and see if they would like our 6/7 players who are only Championship standard. Oh no they wouldn't because these players are shit and wouldn't have helped thier cause - get real and appreciate what you have got.
  16. A left back for me is a priority - just think how little is created down our left hand side in open play. JLS doesn't know what he is going o do next, so god help his team mates in trying to anticipate
  17. it's comments like this that piss me off. No he isn't shit or else he would be playing for the local pub team. Yes he has his faults, I am exasperated at his inability to pass a ball 5 yards at times, but he breaks up the oppositon play extremely well and makes some fantastic last ditch tackles. There's a lot to improve on but to say he is shit is just plain wrong
  18. i'll try and add a balanced view without any of the slagging off of other fans that seems to be a common theme to this thread. Positive Side We have stayed in the premier league for another season For me the basis of a decent team in Jussi, Cahill, Steinsen, Taylor, McCann (wouldn't play in the same team as Muamba - get in each others way), Muamba (in the right role), Davies, Davies and Gardner - needs adding to for sure left back, centre half, quality midfielder who can pass a ball, striker. Stability of a management structure - look what happened at Charlton when the fans lost patience with Curbishley. Struggling for others Negative side A team that plays the least amount of football of any BWFC team in recent history. For those of you who say we were shit under BSA, apart from the last 6 months i disagree entirely - at least we had players who could pass a ball A manager who for me is too negative. What did we have to worry about today not to play 4-4-2 and have a go. it was insipid at best, shit if im being honest. Based on the lack of quality on show and the fans split view on the manager we are a club that is ripping itself apart a declining fan base - as a fan of 30 years, i'm finding harder to justify why I should travel to be royally unentertained and normally come away pissed off due to the sheer tedium of what I have to watch most home games Where does that leave me overall. Struggling with my love of the club versus the frustration of watching the team who play the worst football in the premier league. That is not saying what we do isn't effective, it is just driving me crazy. I want to turn up at the Reebok and enjoy a game now and again, there haven't been many this season, even the majority of the wins have been dull games. Bring on the summer and within a few weeks I will be missing it all as usual, bring in a few quality signings and I as usual will be back for more, fool that I am. Keep the faith
  19. 10 year old Burnden Stand boy (posh seats for us). It's amazing how little I can remember of this era but certainly remember that goal as well as the thrashing we gave the scum (3-0 if I recall) Happy days
  20. 6/10 - couple of lucky guesses
  21. SKD cost us nothing, Elmander best guess of ?8m to ?10m So your point is??
  22. Watching those 2 clips is what football is all about to me. The commitment, enthusiasm and downright love of BWFC from that man was amazing. How big a star would he have been if SKY, Soccer AM had been up and running to the level they are now? RIP and thanks for the memories
  23. Not his best game but when we play 2 up front, SKD and Elmander seem to be in the same space as each other- it's the shock of having a fellow attacker that must cause this. Nailed on penalty for me but other than that thought that Bassong had a solid game and thats why we saw less of SKD than usual. Sometimes its the way his opponent plays that makes his performance average as opposed to him playing "f*cking shite"!!
  24. Agree with the comments about AOB on Sunday. Thought he had a top game, no nonsense but made some crucial interceptions and blocked the overhead in the last couple of minutes. Thought last season he was excellent, but over a period of time towards the end of 2008 cost us a number of points through individual errors. He looked in need of a break, got one and appearsto have come back stronger - and knows he has a fight on his hands to play, always good for keeping players on their toes. Puygrenier looks a much classier player and I think he could come good. However, prone to going walkabout as the West Ham and Tottenham goals showed. If we are to move up a level this is the type of centre half we need although I'm not sure Puygrenier is the answer. AOB is a solid premiership player but never held a consistent place in a top half side - that tells you it all for me.
  25. would have been able to add Rivaldo - if only that fax had come out of the pocket
