  1. The EFL board concluded “that the appointment of the receiver is not material to the club’s ability to fulfill its obligations as a member club and as a result should not be regarded as having suffered an insolvency event, meaning a 12-point deduction is not applicable”.
  2. Roll on one year from now, new announcement will be "The DW stadium, best rugby and outdoor cinema venue in wigan" hehehehe
  3. Funnily enough, whilst having a sip of brandy, i did wonder what you would be having a quiet sip of
  4. Blackburn for me and always will be. I suppose it is an age thing, but I think most Bolton fans pushing 50 will say Blackburn before the non leaguers
  5. Deluded they are. Fans in that league really have a cob on, i told them, if they have an issue, make themselves known when we come to town
  6. It's funny, the number of rival supporters who are seething at the Doyle signing, they think we are paying him £4000/week in wages, i can't quite get through to them we have an embargo until the end of next season of £2000/week.
  7. Sounds about right. I remember thinking we'd be stuck in that division, had to look it up, last five matches we went 3win 2 draws 0 defeats, torquay 3wins 2 losses 0 defeats, scunny 1 win 4 draws ...we were promoted by 1 point
  8. We were actually lucky to be promoted, my recollection is both Torquay and Scunny fucked up their run in (as I am sure we were behind them in the table), meaning we went up with the win at Wrexham
  9. Aye, Villa was moody after that semi. I took our Kath who lived in Coventry, parked about 10 minute away. She had to remind me afterwards, fronting to up to a couple of villa lads with only her as back up, wasn't the brightest thing she has seen me done
  10. Well, we will be relegated to League Two, and in the off season various clubs will band together and start the litigation process against the PPG decision....this will end in a mess. And all clubs in Leagues One and Two will start the preseason (if there is one), with 5 players and less
  11. I assume that under the 2 metre social distancing rule means no tackling, perhaps players can shout "Tackle" when they are near the opposing player? Man marking won't be allowed as well.....you just know this whole restart cannot work, whatever the distance they agree, it won't work. The virus can live for up to 3hours on a surface, so if one player heads it, it could be contaminated
  12. SAS were based down in Chile a month before the bombing raid. My Dad was special forces and was on call for the Falklands (obviously only found out about this later). They were detailed to also scout out the military airport in Buenos Aries, in case it needed to be put out of commission. The Chilean government were "assisting" and the US were sharing any intelligence they had. Plus not to forget the support from the Canadian, Kiwi and Aussies, to name but a few
  13. Independant panel as well upheld the judgement, no way would the EFL would want to try it again and be told they can't. Embargo still stands foe next season though
  14. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52418048 Dutch cancel season, no champions or relegation
  15. The Points Per Game scenario doesn't work for me. There are a few eamples of this: Oldham 1992/93 Run in: P10 W5 D3 L2 Pts 18 Position with 10 games left: 22nd (bottom, and three points from safety) Final position: 19th - stayed up on goal difference (+2 better than Crystal Palace, who lost 3-0 at Arsenal) Bradford 1999/00 Run in: P10 W3 D1 L6 Pts 10 Position with 10 games left: 18th, two points from safety Final position: 17th - they stayed up by three points West Brom 2004/05 Run in: P10 W3 D2 L3 Pts 11 Position with 10 games left: 19th, five points from safety Final position: 17th - they stayed up by one point Fulham 2007/08 Run in: P10 W5 D2 L3 Pts 17 Position with 10 games left: 19th - six points from safety Final position: 17th - stayed up by +3 goal difference over Reading Wigan 2011/12 Run in: P10 W7 D1 L2 Pts 22 Position with 10 games left: 20th - one point from safety Final position: 15th- stayed up by seven points THere are a few more examples, but history has shown teams with poor form can go on an outstanding run and survive
  16. Don't we have an enforced salary cap? I know it is a different set of circumstances that got us there, but the EFL themselves have imposed a salary cap on us
  17. It was the Preston match that made my Dad ban me (yes he actually did), from any away matches until I turned 16 in 1987. He used to make sure I was around the house for Bolton aways (the only time he took any interest in football)
  18. I used to keep the newspaper clippings on our lads travels, from late 1970's to around 1989. No idea where the files are, but my mates dad owned a paper shop, so we would skim them all for any articles.
  19. I actually don't believe it will restart. I saw an article saying that from the date they want to start the season, players would need between 3-5 weeks (almost like pre-season) to get their bodies fit. It isn't about fitness per se, more about getting muscles, ligaments etc back up to the stress football puts their bodies under. Be interesting to see what a sports scientist thinks
  20. Incredibly sad ending
  21. I remember wearing a Viga top in around 83 ish (I as only 12), and one of the big lads saying summat like " ney lad, you want to get rid rid of that and buy some decent gear", I couldn't help looking hi up and down wishing I could afford the adidas, never mind the rest of the gear. Took me a whole summer of paper rounds, milk rounds and gardening, only to find out the stuff I bough for the season was laready out of date heheh. You lads really caused an impression amongst us younger lot. Now don't get all weepy guys, but we really looked up to you guys, and proud as well
  22. Only time I 've been invloved at Burnden, was when Birmingham got into Manny Road South, they scored and it kicked off, weren't many of us in there but forced them through the gate and then the stewards moved the rest.
  23. Wullie replied to gonzo's topic in Terrace Talk
I've seen no improvement, infact, the performances and the excuses have got worse, i'm not convinced Hill is the answer
  24. Incontinence underpants Casino, they are the future
  25. From recolection, more like a modern day MMA fighter, never seen al lad, still to this day, move a quick as he did
